INCY THE INCARNATION CHURCH MOUSE

Hi Folks,

Boy, with all the commotion it’s hard to get a nap around here. People are going and coming with trucks and boxes. It looked like an old war movie. Once the dust settled and I was able to get a bet- ter look I realized it was our new priests arriving. Yup, our new pastor Fr. Jacek and new associate Fr. Wright were settling in. It was nice to see them and I know that you can’t wait to meet them either. So begins a new journey at Incarnation. We have been blessed, all these years at In- carnation, to always have wonderful priests assigned here. Now, one thing I hope is that they like ol’ Incy. I hear one of them may be a cat lover and if that’s true I am in big trouble. I thought those squirrels were bad, now this. I guess I’m safe since I was here first!?

Speaking of fathers, this weekend is what I like to call Na- tional Tie and Sock Day because that’s usually the gift dad’s Sociable Singles receive for Father’s Day. My Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

Following the great Solemnity of Corpus Christi, I send you my heartfelt greetings in the Lord Jesus Christ! As is known, these past months I have been recovering from a staph infection in my previously replaced hip. During this time of recovery, I would be remiss not to acknowledge with gratitude, the support of many kind parishioners throughout the Diocese who aided me with prayers, get-well cards, and words of encourage- ment. Please know that I continue to pray for each of you and your families, the People of God of the Dio- cese of Venice, especially for your spiritual well-being.

At this time, I have an update on my condition. Following successful treatment to overcome the staph infec- tion, I underwent surgery and received a new hip replacement on June 3rd. The surgery was also deemed successful and I am expected to make a full recovery. Although my mobility is still limited, thankfully, I am able to carry out many of my responsibilities during this time. In the near future, I am looking forward to being “back on my feet” and more fully active in the life of our Diocese once again. While I deeply regret not being present at important Diocesan and Parish events, I wish to express my thanks to all of you who welcomed my bishops at the Chrism Mass and at Con- firmation ceremonies and other events.

Please continue to pray for me and for all priests, and all men and women religious who serve the Church. Especially, I ask you to keep in your prayers our three transitional deacons, Joseph Gates, Zenon Kurzyna and Eric Scanlan, who will be ordained priests later this month at Epiphany Cathedral on the Solemnity of Peter and Paul. Right now, I am presently undergoing rehabilitation for the new hip and look forward to resuming all of my Episcopal duties again in the near future! While counting on your continued prayers and the intercession of Our Blessed Mother, I avail myself of this opportunity to renew to you my sincere and profound gratitude.

Sincerely yours in Christ, + Frank J. Dewane Bishop of the Diocese of Venice in Florida
