Thomas Built Buses Announces Second Shift Expansion at Saf-T-Liner® C2 Plant

High Point, N.C. – Thomas Built Buses, a leading U.S. manufacturer of school buses, announced today that it is adding a second shift at its Saf-T-Liner® C2 Plant in High Point, N.C. The addition of the second shift will add approximately 200 employees to the company’s manufacturing operations.

“Increased market demand for our popular Saf-T-Liner C2 has allowed us to expand our second shift operation,” said Caley Edgerly, president and CEO of Thomas Built Buses. “Thomas Built Buses is an active member of the High Point community, and we take great pleasure in being able to offer local employment opportunities when the market allows.”

Thomas Built Buses is seeking assembly technicians, robotic technicians, tool and die operators, electricians and maintenance mechanics. Interested parties should search for Thomas Built Buses at the NCWorks.gov site for specific jobs and qualifications.

“Thomas Built Buses is happy to be able to offer additional jobs at its company’s headquarters in High Point, N.C.,” said Audrey McManus, human resources manager for Thomas Built Buses. “Applications are now live on the NCWorks.gov website, and we will begin reviewing qualified candidates immediately.”

All new second shift employees will work exclusively on Thomas Built’s Saf-T-Liner C2 school bus. Launched in 2004, the Thomas Built C2 revolutionized the school bus industry, setting a new standard for safety, design and engineering innovation. Based on extensive driver and customer input, the C2 was designed from the ground up and built in the High Point production facility, which was created specifically to produce the dramatically different bus. It offers outstanding maneuverability, state-of-the-art driver ergonomics, low cost of operation and the best visibility among all Type C buses. Thomas Built Buses currently offers the Saf-T-Liner C2 school bus with a diesel, propane or compressed natural gas engine.

The C2 continues to set the bar for the industry. In November 2015, Thomas Built Buses introduced BusWise™ Technologies, a suite of technology features and telematics specially built for the C2, which helps create an even smarter, safer and more efficient school bus. To

date, no other school bus in the industry carries these new features. More than 75,000 C2 buses have been sold by Thomas Built Buses and its popularity continues to grow.

For more information on the Saf-T-Liner C2, customers should contact their local Thomas Built Buses dealer.
