Megan Eddings grew up in a family where sports and exercise were a large part of their daily routine, a passion that has stayed with her to this day. But it wasn’t until recently that she realized something was very wrong with the synthetic active apparel currently on the market, it smelled! And it only got worse when she married a CrossFit enthusiast and started doing his laundry. “I was, quite frankly, totally grossed out by the smell of his clothes. I started washing his shirts in extra hot wash cycles, adding scented pods and nothing seemed to wash the smell out”, Eddings recalls. So with a degree in chemistry and a resume that included working in the science labs at the University of Virginia and Brown University, Eddings set out to combine her love of science, fitness, and fashion to create Accel Lifestyle. After 3 years of trial and error, Eddings was able to create a proprietary fabric called Prema that includes premium, American-grown Supima cotton. With patents pending in 120 countries, Accel Lifestyle’s Prema fabric is a softer, stronger, more versatile fabric with wicking and anti-microbial properties. After testing at the same lab the government uses, and countless wear and fit trials, Accel Lifestyle went live and launched their men’s collection on May 24th with a women’s collection to follow shortly. Supima had the opportunity to sit down with Eddings and learn more about Accel Lifestyle and their plan for global domination.
