TECHNOLOGY

Technology has changed a lot in the last 30 years. Now, we have fast computers, the Internet and smartphones. But some experts believe that computers will become more intelligent. Maybe they will become more intelligent than us. What kind of changes will be there in the next 30 years? Well, there are some predictions.

• In the next ten years, we won’t have computers like laptops, or big things on our desks we have today. Computers will be in our clothes. We will see information, take videos, or send emails through our glasses. Our watch will know exactly where we are. If we are ill or not doing enough exercise, our T-shirt will know and tell us about it.

https://www.mediaclick.com.tr/tr/blog/giyilebilir-teknoloji-nedir

•In the next 20 years, we will eat everything that we want, and we won’t need to exercise. Nanobots (very small machines inside our bodies) will work our muscles and keep us fit.

• In the 2040s, if we want to change something in our bodies, it will be possible. If we want new lips, legs or hair, it will be very easy to change it. We won’t have diseases. If our bodies get old, we can change them with younger parts.

• In 2045, it’s possible that the nanobots that inside us will connect us to the Internet. Our brains will become more powerful. And if the Internet saves all our memories and thoughts, then in a way, we will live forever.

Will all these things happen? And if so, won’t it be scary? We will have to think about these questions soon.

Northern Lights

Northern lights mostly are seen in the poles. These lights impress people with their beauty. How they occur has always been wondered. In the past people thought that these lights are sign of God. For the first time Galileo Galilei explained them as Borealis in 1619. At present how they occur is known. It starts with explosion on the sun. Then, particles of the sun reach our world, but the world has a magnetic field that protects yourself. Therefore, these pieces of sun react in the magnetic field. Outcome of this reaction polar lights are seen. Generally, they are color of green, sometimes they can be pink, red, and rarely yellow. Actually, they can be blue, but it maybe hard to see them, because they are same color with the sky. Usually, people think that they are in the North Pole because of their name. However, it can be in the South Pole too. Also, these lights are called the southern lights. In the poles nights are short when in summer. That’s why you can see them in winter easily. Also, these lights are found in the other planets.

What Is Albinism?

Albinism is seen in the ones that doesn't have pigment melanin which constitutes colors. This disease is genetic. When a person is albino he or she can have sight problems, and mostly their eyes have color of blue. They are sensitivity to sun. In addition, albinism is not only seen in people. Also, animals and plants can be albino. Probably, plants being albino is the most interesting one. This is because when plants have albinism they don’t have chlorophyll. That’s why they can’t produce their food. However it doesn’t stop them from living. They obtain their food from other plants’ roots. Even they can live hundred year in this way. There are twenty-five trees that live like this as far as we know, and eight of them live in the California Henry Cowell Redwoods State Park.

Making Chocolate Chocolate is very famous dessert all over the world. Well, do we know how to make chocolate? The name of cacao tree is Theobromocacao from Latin. The cacao is produced in West Africa, West Indies and South America. The cacao trees start to give fruits after 4 years old. The trees have 4-10 meters high, and they give product twice a year. The fruit comes out of the trees’ trunk or man branches, when it grows, it reaches 35 cm in length. A fruit contains around 20-40 seeds. The seeds that are taken off from mature fruits, are fermented in banana leaf. After that, they are dried under the sun, and the seeds get ready to be processed in factory. Then the seeds that are cleaned in the factory are roasted and are grinded. After that, liquid looks like paste are used in making chocolate. Also, by pressing, people obtained cacao oil. After grind, the cacao bits are mixed with sugar and in a bowl, it is reduced to pulp. This dough is transformed to thin layers of chocolate and these layers are softened by adding cacao oil. Then they are put to rectangular grooves and the chocolate take the last form. This is the process of chocolate that we love so much, are made like this. It is really challenging but worth it’s taste! https://tr.wikipedia.org/wiki/%C3%87ikolata

Photography Photography is the creation of images by recording light on a sensitive surface using a camera. It is considered an art when its aesthetic aspect is considered. If we want to explain with the expressions of the digital age, the photograph in an electronic image sensor is the result of each pixel being electrically charged and this photograph being processed electronically.

The camera is the device that creates the image. In addition, photographic film or electronic sensor is a sensing medium. Photographers control the camera and lens and expose the light necessary to create film or raw files. Digital cameras use a light sensitive electronic image sensor.

Black White

In the past, all photos were actually monochrome, that is, black and white. Color film remained popular even when it was released. The reasons for this are both low cost and giving the photos a "classic" look. Some full color digital photos can be made in black and white using editing processes.

Colored

Color Photography has been invented and developed since the mid of 19th century. Early experiments with color photography required extremely long exposures (hours or even days), and color photographs exposed to white light quickly faded. The first permanent color photograph was taken in 1861 by physicist James Clerk Maxwell on the principle of three color separation.

Digital Photography

The first digital camera was made in 1975 by an engineer at Kodak, Steven Sasson, and a group of technicians. The first mass-market color digital camera was launched by Apple in the US in 1994.

ENVIRONMENT

We live on Earth. It takes care of us, but do we really take care of our wonderful planet?

Our Seas Rivers and Lakes

Water pollution is the contamination of water bodies, usually as a result of human activities. Water bodies include for example lakes, rivers, oceans, aquifers and groundwater. Water pollution results when contaminants are introduced into the natural environment. For example, releasing inadequately treated waste of water into natural water bodies can lead to degradation of aquatic ecosystems. In turn, this can lead to public health problems for people living downstream. They may use the same polluted river water for drinking or bathing or irrigation. Water pollution is the leading worldwide cause of death and disease, e.g. due to water-borne diseases.

The Air We Breathe

We pollute the air with chemicals from our cars and factories. Air pollution causes serious health problems for thousands of people all over the world!

Air pollution has always accompanied civilizations. Pollution started from prehistoric times, when human created the first fires. According to an article that was published in 1983 in the journal Science, “soot” found on ceilings of prehistoric caves provides ample evidence of the high levels of pollution that was associated with inadequate ventilation of open fires.” Metal forging appears to be a key turning point in the creation of significant air pollution levels outside the home. Core samples of glaciers in Greenland indicate increases in pollution associated with Greek, Roman, and Chinese metal production.

Our Forests

The ever-growing human consumption and population is the biggest cause of forest destruction due to the vast amounts of resources, products, services we take from it.

Half the world’s rainforests have been destroyed in a century, at this rate you could see them vanish altogether in your lifetime! We must take action for these forests, its plants, animals and humanity who depend on them to continue to live. Deforestation is in fact considered the second major driver of climate change (more than the entire global transport sector), responsible for 18-25% of global annual carbon dioxide emissions.

Direct human causes of deforestation include logging, agriculture, cattle ranching, mining, oil extraction and dam-building.

EFFECTS

Human Health

Overview of main health effects on humans from some common types of pollution.

Adverse air quality can kill many organisms, including humans. Ozone pollution can cause respiratory disease, cardiovascular disease, throat inflammation, chest pain, and congestion. Water pollution can causes approximately 14,000 deaths per day, mostly due to contamination of drinking water by untreated sewage in developing countries. An estimated 500 million Indians have no access to a proper toilet, Over ten million people in India fell ill with waterborne illnesses in 2013, and 1,535 people died, most of them children. Nearly 500 million Chinese lack access to safe drinking water. A 2010 analysis estimated that 1.2 million people died prematurely each year in China because of air pollution. The high smog levels China has been facing for a long time can do damage to civilians’ bodies and cause different diseases. The WHO estimated in 2007 that air pollution causes half a million deaths per year in India. Studies have estimated that the number of people killed annually in the could be over 50,000.

We can’t ignore Earth that is our only home!

We must protect it!

LET’S PROTECT WILDLIFE !

• Why are wild animals important?

They are part of our ecosystem. They are important for the balance of life on the Earth. For example, bears eat fish. They take the fish to the base of the tree and eat it there. Then they leave the bones there, and those bones become natural fertilizer for the tree.

• Where do wild animals live?

They survive in the wild, like jungles or other exotic places. Jungles, deserts, oceans or mountains are their habitats.

• Why are wild animals in danger?

Wild animals are in danger because humans disturb their habitats. People hunt them for their meat or fur. Pollution poisons the sea or land. Humans cut down trees and destroy their habitats. Therefore, wild animals are in danger.

• Why are some animals extinct?

Some animals like the Anatolian Leopard and Caspian Tiger are now extinct. They don’t live anymore because people hunted them for different reasons or they couldn’t find a place to live.

• So what can we do?

We should be careful what we buy, and we should report the wildlife crimes. We can adopt an animal that is in dangerous. The final step may be the most important one: We shouldn’t cut the trees. They are our breath.

HISTORY OF COMMINICATION

People used different ways to communicate in history. Chinese soldiers used smoke signals to warn their commanders in 1800 BC Abbasids started to use messenger birds to have information from distant places in 1150. A German goldsmith, Johannes Gutenberg invented the first printing machine in 1454. After that, people started to share their opinions much easier. Samuel Morse invented the telegraph in 1794. It was faster than letters. When invented the first telephone in 1876, his first words were “Mr. Watson. Come here. I want to see you.” In 1896, Guglielmo Marconi invented the first radio, but its range was about only one mile John Logie Baird invented the television in 1927 and one year later, he made the first transatlantic television transmission Martin Cooper invented the first cell phone in 1973. Finally, the biggest invention, the Internet, became a reality in 1983

WHAT IS 3D PRINTING?

3D printing takes digital files and transforms them into real products 3D printers can create everyday items or complex tools in a very short time. A 3D printer takes a material, melts it into thin layers onto a surface, moves up and prints another layer. After layer upon layer, you get a physical object.

3D printing has various advantages. People are making all kinds of things with 3D printers. Today, you can create hundreds of thousand different objects in a very short time at a lower cost. Generating prototypes with 3D printers is much easier and cheaper than making molds\ and interestingly these objects are always very durable,

Get ready for it-the next great debate will be about the political, ethical and religious questions about 3D printing technologies, Scientists at Cornell University successfully printed a human car last year, and scientists in Scotland are developing a way to print stem cells, another possible problem will be weapons. Today, it is possible to create a gun and fire it with the help of 3D printers

HAPPINESS AND SADNESS

Both happiness and sadness have some advantages for us. We shouldn’t think that only happiness have benefits. We can say that happiness helps our body to solve problems, and it protects us. Also sadness teaches us how to overcome challenges.

Generally, people know that happiness is beneficial for our health. Also, it is true. It is proven by researches. For example, scientists practiced on 1300 men, and people who considered themselves optimistic have less cardiac diseases than others. Also, happiness makes people more powerful, so symptoms of diseases are felt less. At the same time, it warns immune system, so wounds can recover easily. When people smile, their muscles of face work, so their face can remain young. If you want to be happy, it is not too hard. Even a smile can help activate the hormone dopamine, so you can be happy. Besides, according to researches genetically some people are inclined to be happy.

Actually, not only happiness makes human powerful and durable. Also, when a person is in a distressed situation, if it is not too difficult and long period, it makes person stronger. Also, it teaches someone how to cope with some bad situations. However, if this situation is too long and hard, it can be harmful for one’s psychology. Moreover, it can cause the brain to become smaller. Especially, the number of neurons of the people who are in depression for a long-time decreases. That’s why they can be Alzheimer earlier. In addition, when a person be stressed, he or she secrete hormone cortisol, and it can be harmful for veins.

Of course, happiness is very important for our health as everyone knows. However, we shouldn’t think that sadness or disappointments are too harmful for our psychology. That’s because if we were not sad, especially when we were little, we wouldn’t be able to learn how to cope with some problems. That’s why we may have trouble in the future. If we keep sadness and happiness on balanced, we can have a more comfortable life.

Effects of Technology For Human

Last hundred years technology has been developing. A lot of machines that make things easier such as elevators, cars and computers were invented. With they came into our life we can finish our works fast, and we can have more time. However, we should be careful when we spend this time.

On one hand, if we use this time with computers or phones, it can cause a lot of physical diseases. For example, if you look at the screen too much, you can have sight problems or you can become hunchbacked. Also, when you sit in front of the computer, you will not move, so you may face obesity problem. Probably radiation is the most important and serious problem among another issues, because it can cause fatal diseases.

On the other hand, we shouldn’t think that technology causes only physical diseases. According to researches 50 percent of people addicted to internet has another psychiatric disorder. Some of them are substance abuse, mood disorders, anxiety disorder, psychotic disorder. In addition, nomophobia, cyberchondria, internet rage, and social isolation are some of problems came out with using internet extremely. Nomophobia is being scare about not getting information because of internet error. Cyberchondria is continuous searching symptomatology and treatments of diseases in the internet. Social isolation is being reckless and concentrating only on the mobile phone. Internet rage is being stressed because of an internet error, so overreacting. Further, the difference between real life and the life displayed in social media is a problem. People try to seem rich, happy, and perfect in the social media. For these reasons people become lonelier, and unhappy. Unfortunately, people do it by their on hands. They incarcerate themselves in the phones although they have a family or friends.

Of course, internet has beneficial aspects, we can learn a lot of information, and communicate quickly compared to past. However, if it used too much, it has damage for both our body and our psychology. We should be conscious when use internet. We should protect our health from the downsides of technology.

What The Tunder Said Part From The Poem The Waste Land

After the torchlight red on sweaty faces

After the frosty silence in the gardens

After the agony in stony places

The shouting and the crying

Prison and palace and reverberation

Of thunder of spring over distant mountains

He who was living is now dead

We who were living are now dying

With a little patience

Here is no water but only rock

Rock and no water and the sandy road

The road winding above among the mountains

Which are mountains of rock without water

If there were water we should stop and drink

Amongst the rock one cannot stop or think

Sweat is dry and feet are in the sand

If there were only water amongst the rock

Dead mountain mouth of carious teeth that cannot spit

Here one can neither stand nor lie nor sit

There is not even silence in the mountains

But dry sterile thunder without rain

There is not even solitude in the mountains

But red sullen faces sneer and snarl

From doors of mudcracked houses

If there were water

And no rock

If there were rock

And also water

And water

A spring

A pool among the rock

If there were the sound of water only Not the cicada

And dry grass singing

But sound of water over a rock

Where the hermit-thrush sings in the pine trees

Drip drop drip drop drop drop drop

But there is no water

Who is the third who walks always beside you?

When I count, there are only you and I together But when I look ahead up the white road There is always another one walking beside you

Gliding wrapt in a brown mantle, hooded

I do not know whether a man or a woman

—But who is that on the other side of you?

What is that sound high in the air

Murmur of maternal lamentation

Who are those hooded hordes swarming

Over endless plains, stumbling in cracked earth Ringed by the flat horizon only

What is the city over the mountains

Cracks and reforms and bursts in the violet air

Falling towers

Jerusalem Athens Alexandria

Vienna London

Unreal

A woman drew her long black hair out tight

And fiddled whisper music on those strings

And bats with baby faces in the violet light

Whistled, and beat their wings

And crawled head downward down a blackened wall

And upside down in air were towers

Tolling reminiscent bells, that kept the hours

And voices singing out of empty cisterns and exhausted wells.

In this decayed hole among the mountains In the faint moonlight, the grass is singing Over the tumbled graves, about the chapel There is the empty chapel, only the wind’s home.

It has no windows, and the door swings, Dry bones can harm no one. Only a cock stood on the rooftree

Co co rico co co rico

In a flash of lightning. Then a damp gust

Bringing rain

Ganga was sunken, and the limp leaves

Waited for rain, while the black clouds Gathered far distant, over Himavant. The jungle crouched, humped in silence.

Then spoke the thunder

DA

Datta: what have we given?

My friend, blood shaking my heart

The awful daring of a moment’s surrender

Which an age of prudence can never retract

By this, and this only, we have existed

Which is not to be found in our obituaries

Or in memories draped by the beneficent spider

Or under seals broken by the lean solicitor

In our empty rooms

PANDA Pandas are from the bears family. It is a large bear species with large black spots on the white coat. Adult pandas are about 1.5 m long. Male pandas can reach a weight of 115 kg. Female pandas are generally smaller than male pandas, occasionally reaching 100 kg. Pandas live in mountainous areas such as Sichuan, Gansu, Shaanxi and Tibet. Another name for black and white pandas is giant panda. Giant pandas are very important to China. While the Chinese Dragons are a historical symbol of China, Since the second half of the 20th century, giant pandas have been an unofficial national symbol of China. Although giant pandas count as carnivores in scientific classification, they are actually herbivores, as the panda’s daily food consists almost exclusively of bamboo. Giant pandas spend 12-14 hours a day for feeding. Giant pandas eat between 12 and 38 kilograms of bamboo a day. While pandas have a dormant carnivore’s digestive system, they do not have enzymes that try to digest cellulose. Thus, they get a small amount of energy and a small amount of protein from the consumption of bamboo. Because pandas get such small amounts of energy and protein in their daily diet, it is extremely important for pandas to maintain their digestive system. Mother pandas are very affectionate towards their cubs. Pandas are the most affectionate animals in the animal kingdom to their cubs. Female pandas gestation between 120 and 160 days, after which one or two panda babies are born. The newborn panda is barely the size of a mouse and weighs 100-150 grams. Pandas are the only animals that are giant but have such small cubs. Baby panda becomes small and vulnerable. Its eyes are closed when it is born. After a few weeks, its eyes open, but the baby panda still cannot see. However, it hears better than adult pandas. This situation changes and stabilizes after the eyes are opened. It takes 6 weeks for baby panda eyes to start seeing. When it is 3 months old, it starts walking alone, when it is 5 months old, it starts to run and taste bamboo. The baby panda stays with its mother for more than a year and a half. At the end of this long period it is ready to live alone. When a panda is one and a half years old, it reaches a weight of 50 kg. Finally, we have to work to protect the generation of the pandas. The IUCN explained that even though pandas were excluded from the list of endangered animals, they are still among the “sensitive” animal species. The reason for this is that bamboo plants that pandas are fed, are decreasing gradually due to global warming. It is estimated that one third of the bamboo plants in the world will disappear within 80 years. https://tr.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dev_panda

I think actors give a great performance, actors are very convincing. For me, the word that best describes this movie is awesome.
