YOUR BENEFITS 24 January 2017 | 16.30 – 17.15 | Room: Tegel

EXPERTS TALK Digitalisation: Stop talking about it, just get on with it

Energy suppliers are faced with the topic of digitalisation every day – whether it is through the requirements contained in Germany’s law on digitalising the energy transition, or the advance of digital technologies, intelligent grid components and big data. The issues include automating business processes, new "smart" business models, customer communication via social media, and innovations such as blockchain.

For many energy suppliers, however, the specific implications of digitalisation may not be fully clear. Some may also not as yet have the in-depth practical experience required to address the opportunities and challenges presented by digital technologies..

So how can we best take advantage of digitalisation?

Oliver Wyman invites you to attend a discussion with energy experts to consider the following questions: What specific options do we have for tackling digitalisation? What are the biggest challenges to success? How can we overcome existing obstacles? What lessons have been learned?

Jörg Stäglich, Partner, Oliver Wyman GmbH, Munich Dr Thomas Fritz, Partner, Oliver Wyman GmbH, Munich

25 January 2017 | 11.25 – 12.10 | Room: Tegel

WORKSHOP Agile product development: Using Design Thinking & Co. to address emerging customer needs

Most energy suppliers in Germany are investing in new business areas beyond commodity. Many initiatives are challenging because they address entirely new markets in which customer needs are not yet clearly established. Design Thinking is one of the most popular and successful methods for these situations. Used properly, it can be a highly versatile tool – for instance in developing new products for consumers or business customer, establishing the role of the competitive metering operator, and even for efficiently developing tools for internal process improvements.

This workshop takes a playful approach to acquaint you with fundamentals of Design Thinking. You will gain an understanding of success factors for the introduction of Design Thinking in your organisation, and you will be able to discuss your experiences with your peers.
