Oct 2016 Angus Services Newsletter
Welcome to our Autumn 2016 Newsletter
Our Dementia Resource Centre in Arbroath has been open for a year, where has the time gone! There were a few teething problems which took us a few months to iron out and now we are very well settled and enjoying our wonderful resource. Our weekly Tea & Blether, on a Tuesday morning, is going well, we are getting many more people popping in for information and to make donations, which is wonderful. If you haven’t been in to see us yet please do call in.
To everyone that joined us at the Memory Walk and for all the sponsorship money raised also to all those that have made donations to our Service over the last few months you have all been very generous. Your support is very much appreciated
We have been fortunate to receive many donations from people celebrating special occasions who have chosen to request donations from their family and friends in place of gifts. We are delighted that people are thinking of us at their special time and being so altruistic it really does mean a great deal to us, to mention a few. Mr & Mrs Howlett celebrated their Golden Wedding Elspeth Elrick celebrated her 70th Birthday Mr & Mrs Scorgie celebrated their Diamond Wedding Mr & Mrs Stevens celebrated their Diamond Wedding

Memory Walk at Forfar Loch
We had a lovely day at Forfar with over 60 walkers going around the Loch, such a nice location and a very pleasant walk. The Walkers raised just over £3,000 for Angus Services, Thank you all so much! Also we are grateful to our loyal volunteers who made sure everything went off safely & smoothly on the day, George McAinsh did a marvelous job of being Buddy, again, and thanks to the staff at Forfar Leisure Centre. Everyone seemed to enjoy themselves, the location was very popular. Look out for next year’s walk which will probably be back around Forfar Loch.

Provost Helen Oswald
We were very saddened to hear that Helen Oswald, Provost of Angus, passed away peacefully on 13th October. Helen was a great supporter of our charity and made Alzheimer Scotland Angus Service her charity of choice for her term of office as provost. We were absolutely delighted that Helen was our guest of honour at the dedication of our new Dementia Resource Centre last November and that she was able to officiate at our official opening in May of this year. Helen spoke up for us, sung with us, danced with us and had fun with us. Helen will be very much missed but will always be fondly remembered.

Carnoustie Drop-in Musical Trio
The wonderful trio of Ineke Cargill, another of our volunteers, her husband Brian and Austin Black, also a volunteer, entertained the people at the Carnoustie Drop-in with music and song, which was thoroughly enjoyed by everyone.
Bothy Nicht raised over £800
The Bothy Nicht held at the Black Abbot in Montrose on 30th September was a resounding success, it was packed to the rafters with standing room only. The evening was most enjoyable with everyone revelling in the music, song and humour. People are already asking when the next one will be.
