1511 Bonarda Colli Piacentini DOC, Castelli del Duca

Story of the wine: Whilst the indigenous grapes of Italy represent a great strength there are occasions when it can be very confusing. Bonarda from Colli Piacentini is in reality , in contrast to Bonarda from Novara hills of , which really is Bonarda. Croatina is hardly found outside the Emilia Romagna region. Historically this variety was given a second fermentation in the bottle so as to give it a gentle sparkle.

Details: Grape(s): 100% Bonarda Area: From vineyards in the hills around the town of . Av. Age of Vines:25 years Vine Density: 4,000 per ha. Training system: Guyot : Late September early October : 98 hl.per ha. Vinification: There is 15 day fermentation in stainless steel vats at between 270-290C and a complete malolactic fermentation. There is 9 day maceration. Ageing: Aged for 3-4 months in large oak barrels and then kept in stainless steel vats. Pack size: 6x75cl
