SECRETARIAT AS/SOC (2016) CB 01 2 February 2016 To the members of the Committee on Social Affairs, Health and Sustainable Development Synopsis of the meeting held in Strasbourg on 26-28 January 2016 The Committee on Social Affairs, Health and Sustainable Development, meeting in Strasbourg: Tuesday, 26 January 2016, at 2pm, with first Mr John Prescott (United Kingdom, SOC), oldest member present, and then Ms Stella Kyriakides (Cyprus, EPP/CD), elected Chairperson, in the Chair, as regards: Election of the Bureau of the Committee : elected, by acclamation, Ms Stella Kyriakides (Cyprus, EPP/CD), Chairperson; elected, by acclamation, Ms Sílvia Eloïsa Bonet (Andorra, SOC), first Vice-Chairperson; elected, by acclamation, Mr Andrej Hunko (Germany, UEL), second Vice-Chairperson1; elected, by acclamation, Mr Ionuţ-Marian Stroe (Romania, EPP/CD), third Vice-Chairperson; Inhabitants of frontier regions of Azerbaijan are deliberately deprived of water (Rapporteur: Ms Milica Marković, Bosnia and Herzegovina, SOC): took position on the 21 amendments tabled; Wednesday, 27 January 2016, at 2 pm with Ms Stella Kyriakides (Cyprus, EPP/CD), Chairperson, in the Chair, as regards: Institutional representation of PACE in 2016: appointed Committee representatives for the European Centre for Global Interdependence and Solidarity – Council of Europe North-South Centre as follows: Ms Emine Nur Günay (Turkey, EC) as representative; Mr Stefan Schennach (Austria, SOC) as alternate; (NB: the Bureau agreement was given on 29 January 2016); Human rights and ethical issues related to surrogacy (Rapporteur: Ms Petra De Sutter, Belgium, SOC): considered the issue of a potential conflict of interests of the rapporteur and, following a discussion, decided (by a show of hands) not to proceed with a vote on the possible withdrawal of the mandate of the Rapporteur (article 3 in conjunction with article 1.1.1.
