Abb.1: Calvagese della Riviera Tour 1 Valtènesi hills Abb.2: Tour 1 A discovery tour which leads us through the hilly and lush countryside of the south-western Garda Lake. From Bedizzole to Calvagese the tour is accompanied by colourful fields, small woods and vineyards which invite to take a rest tasting some glasses and just enjoying the splendid buildings of the wine cellars. The second part of the road from Puegnago to Polpenazze and further on to Padenghe goes on through vineyards and olive orchards while our view is irresistibly attracted by the panorama over the whole southern lake in front of the majestic mountains of Monte Baldo. In between you pass through the Lakeland of Sovenigo – a green lung of shady woods and quietness – a perfect resting place to stop the car and to take a little walk away from the busy beaches of the lakeside. The tour end at Pratello, a small village right above the castle of Padenghe. You can either go the adventurous street up to the village or leave your car at the castle and take a little walk. It is definitely worthwhile. Abb.3: Manerba del Garda Tour 2 Lake shore of Valtènesi Abb.4: Tour 2 This tour leads through the first hills of Valtènesi passing through vineyards and olive orchards with one of the most impressive panoramic views over the whole southern lake side. There are innumerable possibilities to stop at one of the beautiful vineyards, to taste the wonderful wine, to buy a reserve for home or just to enjoy the landscape. The scenery goes from the first steep alpine peaks right above Salò to the romantic peninsula of Sirmione. Our tour continues close to the lake shore, keeping still a little distance to the beaches. We follow a road through olive orchards and colorful garden quarters pass by the island of Isola del Garda and the extremely characteristic rock of Manerba, which towers over the coast. Each bend offers a new sight, a new amazing impression of the large southern part of Garda Lake. The background is build by the 2.000 m high Monte Baldo. Our full comprehension for everybody who decides to integrate a spontaneous stop for a bath! Abb.5: Desenzano del Garda Tour 3 Lugana and Solferino The smooth hills of the morainic landscape south of Garda Lake are the home of two high quality wines: Lugana and San Martino della Battaglia. Our romantic wine route follows the traces of dramatic historical events, which saw one of the most important battles for the Italian independence and unification exactly 150 years ago. We start at Villa Brunati on the lake shore, where piedmonts’ king Vittorio Emanuele stayed during the days before the battle, and follow the trace of the Italian soldiers to the battlefields of San Martino and Solferino. The dramatic events of the battle of Solferino have given the inspiration for the foundation of the International Red Cross. A scenic last stop of the tour is the castle of Lonato, where children can immerge perfectly into the world of knights and damsels while the parents enjoy the fantastic view to the scenery of Garda Lake. Abb.6: Tour 3 Abb.7: Salò Tour 4 I & II From Salò to Sirmione Abb.8: Tour 4 This unique large tour combines two of the most characteristic wine areas of Garda Lake - Valtènesi and Lugana. From Salò the tour leads all along the panoramic road of Valtènesi to the castles of Padenghe and Lonato and further on the smooth hills of Solferino, Pozzolengo and San Martino della Battaglia. This area, which 150 years ago saw the battles for the independence of a unified Italy and which can be considered the birth place of the International Red Cross, are the home of some fantastic white wines. The tour finishes Sirmione, the romantic peninsula that gave inspiration to the diva of the Italian Opera Maria Callas as well as to the roman poet Catullus. Abb.9: Limone Tour 5 The mountains of the Alto Garda Bresciano Park A spectacular tour through the mountains of the Alto Garda Bresciano Park. The tour starts in the marvellous town centre of Limone del Garda. From the Mediterranean landscape down at the lake shore we go up the steep streets to Tremosine and Tignale. Here you can find lovely little mountain villages and gorgeous views over Lake Garda and the surrounding mountain peeks. You should take you time to stop the car and take a walk through the nature. Definitely you should stop at the sanctuary of Madonna di Montecastello. It is possible to go up to the sanctuary by car though we recommend to leave the car down by the street and to take a little walk – you will definitely be recompensed for the effort. From the sanctuary the road goes down to the lake again where our tour ends in the centre of another beautiful lake town – Gargnano. Abb.10: Tour 5 Culinary discoveries along your tour Winery 1.
