Annual General Meeting held in the Coffin Bay Bowling Club on 27 May 2010, commencing at 7:30 pm.

Minutes: Bert/Peter Allen moved that the minutes of 28/05/09 and 25/02/10 be accepted. Carried

Correspondence: Ungarra Bowling Club – decided not to renew its affiliation with Bowls SA. Bill to write explaining our concerns relating to insurance of the club. Kirton BC – listing new branch executive Cummins BC – team nominations for 10/11 Eastern Eyre Bowling Association – suggesting changes to Region Champion of Champions event Bowls SA – précis of Council minutes Bowls SA – draft of Competition Policy (Open Gender) Coffin Bay BC – protest letter; previously dealt with by Executive Committee Kym/Darryl moved that the correspondence be accepted. Carried

President’s Report: Rodney presented his report (attached in minute book).

Treasurer’s Report: SEPMBA had income of $1012.68 and expenditure of $993.00 with a closing balance of $838.56. The report was certified correct by Ned Roberts. Bill/Graham moved that the President’s and Treasurer’s reports be accepted. Carried

Election of Officers: Rodney declared offices vacant and conducted the election of officers. President – Bob Milic was nominated by Port Lincoln. Elected Rodney remained in the chair as Bob was unable to be present. Secretary/Treasurer – Bill Richardson was nominated and elected Recorder – Geoff Sinclair was nominated and elected Reporter – Kym Schumacher was nominated and elected, subject to his approval (subsequently accepted) Association Selectors: Coffin Bay – Rodney Winkles Cummins – Barry Kearsley Kirton – Ian Miller Port Lincoln – Bob Milic Tumby Bay – Peter Allen All accepted 1 Regional Selectors: Barry Kearsley was nominated and elected and Bob Milic was nominated and elected, subject to his approval (subsequently declined). Adrian Hurrell was later asked to fill the position and accepted. Junior Coordinator – Bill Richardson was nominated and elected. Auditor –Ned Roberts was nominated and elected. Bank signatories – Secretary/Treasurer, Peter Allen and Adrian Hurrell were nominated and elected, any two to sign. Honorarium – Secretary $150, Recorder $150, Reporter $150. Agreed Sponsors – , MGA Cummins and Greg Gibson Real Estate. Affiliation – Barry/Kym moved that SEPMBA affiliate with Bowls SA. Carried

Pennant Program: Bill suggested that Geoff Sinclair be invited to participate in the meeting’s discussions without voting rights. Agreed

Clubs nominated their preferred Saturday Pennant structure.

Kym/Darryl moved that Saturday Pennant structure be; 3 teams per Side in 1st Division and 3 teams per Side in 2nd Division. Carried Changes were made to the Port Lincoln and Tumby Bay preferences and the new number of sides and rinks are shown in brackets.

Clubs nominated their preferred Wednesday Pennant number of sides.

Gary/Darryl moved that Pairs be played in the same format as last season. Carried

Scoring point system; Ross/Kym moved that in Saturday Pennants there be 8 points for a Side win and 2 points for a rink win. In Wednesday Pennants there be 10 points for a Side win and 2 points for a rink win. Carried

Opening day; Gary/Darryl moved that it shall be Saturday 9th October at 1.30pm.

Season start; Ross/Kym moved that Saturday Pennants start on Saturday 16th and Wednesday Pennants shall start on Wednesday 13th October. The season to finish on the 13th and 16th April 2011. Carried

Barry/Kym moved that Wednesday Pennants shall be a Men’s competition and Saturday Pennants shall be an Open Gender competition. Carried 2 Notices of motion: Peter Allen/Darryl moved that we adopt the two notices of motion from the minutes of Delegates meeting on 25th February. Carried That is, By-Law 2. (1) (a) to list 75% of players and bind them to a side has been removed and By-Law 2. (2) (a) to be eligible to play in the finals has been extended from three to five games to be played in a colour and division.

General Business: Regional Champion of Champions; Peter Allen/Adrian moved that we recommend to Region 5 meeting that this event lapse. Carried

A letter of thanks is to be sent to Philip Hutchinson for the excellent work he has done as Recorder for the past 15 years.

Gary proposed an additional competition be played on Friday night with 10 players under lights which could be hosted by Port Lincoln.

Flexibility is needed during hot weather when playing bowls by playing night bowls, moving to another day or shifting venues to the coastal towns.

Tournaments, Invitation and State events; Geoff Sinclair conducted a round table discussion to develop a program of events for our association. Country Carnival is to be held on 7-14 February and Round Robin 14-18 February.

Association Website: Geoff Sinclair outlined the possibility of constructing a website for the Association. Two local firms had tendered to assist in developing and maintaining the website. Another option was to operate through the Bowls SA website.

Graham/Ross moved that we proceed to develop a website for this Association. The website to be the preferred option chosen by the Recorder. The cost to be divided between all clubs. An upper limit of $2,500 to be spent on developing the site. Carried

The name of the site to be Eyre Lawn Bowls.com

Chris Hayman, the current Recorder for the Ladies Association, is to be invited to attend any instructional courses provided by the Webmaster.

Affiliation fees: Peter Allen/Darryl moved that the Association affiliation fee be $2 per player. Carried

Next Meeting to be held on Thursday 26th August at 7.30pm at Port Lincoln BC.
