  • Maserati Trofeo
Date: 28 May 2014 Maserati Trofeo World Series - Hungaroring (H) - Presentation of Round 2 The Maserati Trofeo returns to the Hungaroring Round 2 in the Maserati Trofeo World Series will be held at the famous Hungaroring on 30 May-1 June. The Budapest track will also be staging the third round in the DTM series. Hungary will be the first time we see the 2014 three-race format (at Spa only two races were run). The endurance race will last 60’ (last year it was 50’) with a compulsory pit stop; the two 30' sprints will also be run. The aim in tweaking the race times and points system is to level out the playing field even more. The rule changes now make victory in the endurance event enticing with 25 points on offer compared to 9 for the sprint. So, flat out speed will not be enough to take the title this year: drivers will need to be cute and calculated as well as being good behind the wheel. There will be two all-female crews taking part, both from Hungary: in the No. 42 will be Adrienn Dansco and Edina Bus while Adrienn Vogel will share the No. 44 with Anita Toth. Toth is making a return to the Maserati series after competing in 2011 and 2012 alongside her partner Béla Csiszer. The Maserati GranTurismo MC Trofeos return to Budapest after first appearing in June 2011 for Round 3. Then, Norbert Kiss, driving on his home track, swept the board: as well as topping the standings in free practice and qualifying, he took the chequered flag in the first two races.

  • Thomas Biagi And
Date: 24 March 2007 Thomas Biagi and the MC12 in pole position at Zhuhai A fine drive by Thomas Biagi saw the Vitaphone Racing Team Maserati MC12 scoop pole position for the first race of the season. In the fifteen minutes the drivers had to set a fast time, the driver from Emilia clocked 1'31"339 to take top spot for the first time in his FIA GT career. Tomorrow's race will begin at 13.30 local time. At the end of a hard fought session, Biagi held off Mike Hezemans (Corvette C6R) by 5 thousandths and Anthony Kumpen (Corvette C5R) by 25 thousandths. The fourth fastest time for a place on the second row was set by Andrea Bertolini, from Playteam Sarafree, with a time of 1'31"551. The Emilian's car suffered from understeer during the opening qualifying laps. This problem somewhat compromised his placing but he remains hopeful ahead of the race given that his car is well balanced and that his times improved as the session went on. The eighth quickest time (1'32"433) was taken by the second Playteam Sarafree MC12, driven by Alessandro Pier Guidi. He was hindered by going out onto a dry track during his stint. The driver from Tortona opted to preserve his tyres for the race rather than push hard in qualifying, unlike his team mate Bertolini. In the race the drivers will have to start with the tyres used in qualifying. Behind Pier Guidi came Christian Montanari's Vitaphone Racing Team's MC12. The driver from San Marino stopped the clock at 1'32"565.

  • Motorsport 2017 History
MOTORSPORT 2017 HISTORY HISTORY Ever since the company was founded in 1976, Öhlins has represented the very pinnacle of suspension technology and firmly rooted itself as an intricate part of the motorsport industry, underpinning countless world titles. That very technology has subsequently been adopted not only as the gold standard of aftermarket suspension, but is also by car and motorcycle manufacturers around the world. Back in the 1960’s, Kenth Öhlin was an up-and-coming motocross rider and showed an innate talent for mechanics. He knew how to bring the best out of his material and soon he saw himself engaged in modifying his competitor’s bikes. By the time he started his business he had already designed exhaust pipes, engines and – of course – shock absorbers. Öhlins soon became synonymous with advanced suspension. The products were not only superior in terms of technology, but as Mr. Öhlin was, and is, a very meticulous man the quality was always outstanding. The first world championship was won already in 1978, as Russian Gennady Moiseev took the 250cc title on an Öhlins equipped KTM. Since then, more than another 300 world titles have followed. The success continued in road racing and soon also in the automotive segment, in racing as well as in rally, all adding to the motorsport pedigree. But don’t think that Öhlins was content, not for a minute. The company continued to grow, adding electronically controlled, semi-active suspension to its portfolio under the trademark CES. Today, this technology has revolutionized the car industry and can be found in a wide range of products from premium car manufacturers.
