Press Release Refurbishment of Castle Kitchen Completed State-of-the-art technical equipment optimizes service operations and enhances quality Frankfurt, May 2015 – The Schlosshotel Kronberg is one of the most extraordinary hotels in Germany. It was built as “Schloss Friedrichshof” according to the wishes of Victoria Kaiserin Friedrich in 1893 - in remembrance of her husband, Kaiser Friedrich III. In the beginning of 2013, major refurbishment and renovation measures took place in the castle kitchen. This step sets new standards for the restaurant and makes sure it will be able to offer its guests exquisite fine-dining experiences also in the future. “My family considers the refurbishment a vital step for the Schlosshotel Kronberg on its way to becoming one of the leading hotels in Germany,” explains Landgrave Donatus of Hesse, GM of the Hessische Hausstiftung. Therefore, the castle kitchen was completely gutted and equipped with state-of-the-art devices, to establish a perfect workspace for the chef and his team. “We believe that this kitchen is one of a kind here in Germany”, states Franz Zimmermann, GM of the Schlosshotel Kronberg. The refurbishment of the kitchen area aimed at changing the current kitchen space into a fully functional banquet and A-la-carte kitchen, to optimise workflow and enhance quality. “We have a great team spirit in the kitchen and the newly arranged work spaces help us in our daily work”, says head chef Joerg Lawerenz referring to his dedicated team. “And us – the restaurant team - to exceed the hotel’s high standards and our own expectations”, restaurant manager Arnaud Juillot adds. Expertise and know-how of the head chef was asked for, when planning the kitchen space. In addition to state-of-the-art technology, the look plays a major role. The new kitchen shines in stainless steel surrounded by historic ambience and it integrates fantastically in the revealed round-arched vault. It appears spacious, open and bathed in light. The Von Hesse-family directed the refurbishment measures in all matters of taste and style. With the help of the competent teams of Frankfurt based architects Meixner, Schlüter, Wendt and kitchen specialists PROFIL Gastronomie Planung + Innovation all expectations and visions regarding the new kitchen were realized in a perfect way. “The new kitchen is better organized which will further simplify workflow for the whole team”, explains Lawerenz. Allowing eye contact among all units, to be able to support in case of need. Outstanding features of the 400-square-metre space are the induction hobs, an air-conditioned kitchen and a separate banquet kitchen. A special highlight is, however, the Chef’s Table: “Generally speaking, we will be more transparent for our guests, as they will have the opportunity to closely watch the kitchen team while working on different processes”, states Franz Zimmermann, GM of the Schlosshotel Kronberg. „Producing and processing high-end products form the basis of our dishes` extraordinary quality – and this is what we would like to show to our guests in the new castle kitchen.” High-tech meets history on the highest level - this can be taken literally at the Schlosshotel Kronberg, making everybody very proud.
