Bologna - Raticosa Quei 603 Tornanti a Tutta Birra Contro Il Tempo
Bologna - Raticosa quei 603 tornanti a tutta birra contro il tempo e prime edizioni della Bologna Raticosa si tennero negli anni L1926 e 1939, e in seguito, dal 1950 al 1954 e il percorso di 42 chilo- metri dal ponte di San Ruffillo, alle porte di Bologna, fino al passo della Raticosa faceva si’ che per lunghezza fosse la seconda gara in salita in Europa dopo la Parma - Poggio di Berceto. Dopo una interruzione di 8 anni la gara riprese nel 1962 con il percorso accorciato di circa 10 chilometri rispetto all’originale con la partenza davanti all’hotel Posta di Pianoro Vecchio. Nel 1969 dopo gli epici duelli tra gli specialisti dell’epoca la corsa fu defi- nitivamente sospesa. Dal 2001 grazie all’impegno di Francesco Amante e di un gruppo di amici le auto storiche hanno ripreso a gareggiare sul tratto Pianoro Vecchio – Livergnano di 6 chilometri. A partire dalla gara 2007, il percorso ha validità per il Campionato Italiano Velocità in salita. In questo 2015 arriviamo alla 30a edizione, ed è un traguardo già di per se’ vittorioso che condividiamo volen- tieri con gli amici, i piloti, tutti i volontari e gli appassionati cui va il Bologna - Passo della Raticosa nostro ringraziamento. But could it also have been the first step towards the super-luxury Bugatti Royale saloon? The lost Bugatti 90 / MAGNETO MAGNETO / 91 BUGATTI DIATTO AVIO 8C T This is one hell of a tale. It’s controversial at times, it brings in threads involving World War One fighter pilot Roland Garros, surprising links to Maserati, and the likely origins of not just Bugatti’s Grand Prix engines, but also the legendary Bugatti Royale. Most exciting of all, it introduces a remarkable aero-engined Bugatti that’s never been seen before. To whet your appetite, it’s a 14.5-litre and develops 250bhp at 2160rpm – Bugatti’s equivalent of the ‘Beast of Turin’ Fiat or the Benz-engined Scariscrow. Crucially, a large proportion of it is original, rescued from decades in hiding by a legendary Bugatti expert before moving on to its current owner. It’s been painstakingly researched, restored and part-recreated in secret by craftsmen in Denmark and the Czech Republic. To all but a select few, its existence remained unknown until its big reveal at the Rétromobile show in Paris on February 6. So, how did we get to this point? Let’s start with the engine, because actually it’s more important than the car itself in many ways. The story begins with French pilot Roland Garros, who in 1913 made the first-ever non-stop flight across the Mediterranean, flying a fast Morane-Saulnier monoplane. -

Fu in attività sino al 1932 Storia La ditta torinese aveva origini più antiche: era stata infatti fondata nel 1835 da Guglielmo Diatto come fabbrica di carrozze. Grazie agli antichi natali, è accreditata come una delle case più vecchie al mondo tra i precursori dell'automobile, di vetture sportive e di lusso. Guglielmo Diatto brevettò nel 1838 una "ruota perfezionata" della quale il Museo Nazionale dell'Automobile di Torino conserva documentazione; più avanti l'azienda diventò Ditta Ing. Diatto, Fonderie Officine Meccaniche Costruzioni in ferro e allargò la produzione ai vagoni ferroviari e tranviari con l'avvento all'amministrazione dei figli del capostipite Giovanni e Battista. La Diatto divenne così fornitrice di grandi società ferroviarie e tranviarie, come la "Società per le Strade Ferrate del Mediterraneo", la "Società Nazionale di Ferrovie e Tramvie di Roma", la "Compagnie des Wagons Lits et des Grands Express Européens - TEE Trans Europe-Orient Express" di Parigi, il treno più lussuoso al mondo dell'epoca e la "Tramvia Elettrica Torino-Rivoli" (siamo tra la metà dell'Ottocento e i primi del Novecento). 90th anniversary of the Targa Florio victory: Bugatti wins fifth consecutive title MOLSHEIM 02 05 2019 FOR MANY YEARS BUGATTI DOMINATED THE MOST IMPORTANT CAR RACE OF THE 1920S Legends were born on this track. Targa Florio in Sicily was considered the world’s hardest, most prestigious and most dangerous long-distance race for many years. Today, current Bugatti models remind us of the drivers from back in the day. Sicilian entrepreneur Vincenzo Florio established his own race on family-owned roads in the Madonie region. Between 1906 and 1977, sports cars raced for the title at international races, some of which even had sports car world championship status. Winners at this race could proudly advertise their victory. For this reason, all important sports car manufacturers sent their vehicles to Sicily. Between 1925 and 1929 Bugatti dominated the race with the Type 35. In particular, in 1928 and 1929, one man showcased his skills at the wheel of his vehicle: Albert Divo. In these two years he was unbeatable in his Bugatti Type 35 C, winning the race in Sicily on 5 May 1929 after having also claimed the top spot in 1928. He also set a further record when he crossed the finish line: the “Fabrik Bugatti” team won the title five times in a row – this had never been done before in the history of the Targa Florio and remained an unbeaten record until the end of the last official races, to this day. A reason to look back. After all, the race was anything but easy: initially one lap of the “Piccolo circuito delle Madonie” was around 148 kilometres, from 1919 organisers cut the race lap distance to a still considerable 108 kilometres.
