We have continued to consolidate our presence in the countries where we were already established, and we have expanded into new markets. Over 70.5% of our portfolio remains outside of Spain.

In Spain, public civil works tenders and procure- ment increased in 2017, although in both cases these only reached a third of the volume of ten years ago, situating us at an all-time low. Further- more, concessions fell by almost 50% in compar- ison to the previous year. To sum up, 2017 closed with priority infrastructures in areas such as wa- ter systems, environment, mobility and urban ac- cessibility, interurban transport and mobility, and logistics still pending. We are confident that these will be carried out over the coming years.

In the short to mid-term our business strategy continues to focus on exploring new markets and business opportunities to guarantee our future portfolio.

As a result of this strategy, we established Man- fevias, a new company which further strengthens Grupo Azvi´s longstanding presence within the railway sector. The company comes in response to a new business line to carry out maintenance, checks and repairs to heavy track machinery, en- gines and wagons, among others, and has the approval of Adif and recognition by the Spanish LETTER FROM Railway Safety Agency as a railway rolling stock maintenance centre.

Our basic principle is to protect and to promote the health, safety and well-being of our workers, as well as the sustainability of the working environment. WORK ASSESSMENT SYSTEM Construction works are an endless source of danger and require constant monitoring and control. To do this, the Prevention Service has implemented this system in Azvi to analyse a wide range of aspects regarding Occupational Risks and to identify, communicate and eliminate situations of risk. All the checks that are performed help us to find out to what extent each construction work is committed to risk prevention, as well as the level of training of its workers. An average of 6,500 records are checked annually, offering information that is of great importance for developing the management processes and tools necessary to make corrections and improvements. This control system is implemented in every country where Azvi carries out its activities, and it has reliable data regarding risk prevention from all its works, regardless of where they are located.
