QUÉBEC FISH and SEAFOOD DIRECTORY 5th EDITION Minister’s Message As Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food, I am pleased to be involved with this new edition of the Québec Fish and Seafood Directory. Whether located in the maritime regions or in urban centres, industry stakeholders – fi shers, aquaculturers, processors and distributors – together offer a wide range of products of exceptional quality. These products delight the most demanding of connoisseurs here in Québec and abroad – the ultimate destination of much of our production with sales outside Québec totalling $200 million on average per year. The success of businesses in the area of marketing is obviously one of our highest collective priorities. In the ministerial action plan I announced in 2008 for this sector of activity, we place a great deal of emphasis on diversifying export markets and developing the domestic market to ensure the industry’s economic viability. The Québec Fish and Seafood Directory is an initiative that meshes perfectly with the priorities defi ned in the action plan. We are proud to have contributed to the production of this reference document, the outcome of close cooperation between iii the industry and its various partners. So, enjoy your reading and especially, enjoy discovering more about the savoury fi sh and seafood produced in Québec.
