Brief report Acta Palaeontologica Polonica 61 (4): 863–868, 2016 A new pentatomoid bug from the Ypresian of Patagonia, Argentina JULIÁN F. PETRULEVIČIUS A new pentatomoid heteropteran, Chinchekoala qunita gen. (Wilf et al. 2003). It consists of a single specimen, holotype et sp. nov. is described from the lower Eocene of Laguna MPEF-PI 944a–b, with dorsal and ventral sides, collected from del Hunco, Patagonia, Argentina. The new genus is mainly pyroclastic debris of the plant locality LH-25, latitude 42°30’S, characterised by cephalic characters such as the mandibular longitude 70°W (Wilf 2012; Wilf et al. 2003, 2005). The locality plates surpassing the clypeus and touching each other in dor- was dated using 40Ar/39Ar by Wilf et al. (2005) and recalculated sal view; head wider than long; and remarkable characters by Wilf (2012), giving an age of 52.22 ± 0.22 (analytical 2 σ), related to the eyes, which are surrounded antero-laterally ± 0.29 (full 2 σ) Ma. The specimen was originally partly covered and posteriorly by the anteocular processes and the prono- by sediment and was prepared with a pneumatic hammer. It was tum, as well as they extend medially more than usual in the drawn with a camera lucida attached to a Wild M8 stereomicro- Pentatomoidea. This is the first pentatomoid from the Ypre- scope and photographed with a Nikon SMZ800 with a DS-Vi1 sian of Patagonia and the second from the Eocene in the re- camera. For female genitalia nomenclature I use valvifers VIII gion, being the unique two fossil pentatomoids in Argentina. -

REDACTIONEEL Henk Viscaal Alvorens dit redactioneeltje te beginnen wil ik alle leden van Succulenta het allerbeste voor 2006 toewensen. Naast het liefhebber zijn van cactussen en vetplanten, heeft zich bij mij in de loop der tijden een tweede hobby ontwikkeld: fotograferen. Daarom ben ik onlangs lid geworden van een fotoclub. Waar dat nu voor nodig was, werd mij ogenblikkelijk gevraagd. Je maakt toch al van die mooie foto’s. Dat klopt, maar op een gegeven moment krijg je het gevoel dat je op dood spoor zit en niet verder komt. Je bent niet langer tevreden met de resultaten, want je wilt meer. Nu is het grappige van een dergelijke club, dat er heel goed vergelijkingen gemaakt kunnen worden met een vereniging als de onze. Ook hier treffen we een aantal gelijkge- stemde mensen aan die hun hobby optimaal willen bedrijven. Ook hier zie je een willen presteren op een hoger niveau. Frappant hierbij is dat men open en eerlijk praat over de eigen mogelijk- en onmogelijkheden en de wil om de grenzen, op fotografie-gebied, te verleggen. Als lotgenoot leg je dan vooral goed je oor te luisteren en probeert dat op te pikken wat voor jou van belang is om een gesteld doel te bereiken. Dat doel is natuurlijk nog mooiere foto’s te maken. Wanneer je aan alle technische eisen voldoet, zul je in de meeste gevallen een duide- lijke, maar soms steriele afbeelding krijgen. En hier zit hem nu de kneep: je wilt de foto wat extra’s mee geven. Je wilt er een bepaalde sfeer in brengen. -

Until recently, only ten low-molecular weight compounds, a sesquiterpene, and dimers of (E)-4-oxo-2-hexenal had been reported from the contents of P. subquadrata glands. Here, the main goal was to distinguish the volatile compounds released by adult males, adult females and nymphs of the two species. The analyses revealed 103 compounds, of which 44 were exclusive to Phloeophana longirostris and 15 were exclusive to Phloea subquadrata. The data were analyzed by chemometric methods, which discriminated the phloeid species by developmental stage and sex. -

| 403 Resumen DINIDORIDAE, MEGARIDIDAE Se presenta una revisión del conocimiento de la di- E TESSARATOMIDAE versidad de las Dinidoridae, Megarididae y Tessarato- midae en la Argentina. Estas familias están represen- tadas por sólo una especie en las familias Dinidoridae y Tessaratomidae y por dos en Megarididae, la cual es exclusivamente conocida de la región Neotropical. Se incluye información general sobre hábitat, comporta- miento, régimen alimenticio y distribución geográfica de las familias. Abstract A review of the knowledge of the diversity of the Dini- doridae, Megarididae, and Tessaratomidae in Argen- tina is presented. These families are represented by one species of Dinidoridae and Tessaratomidae each, and two of Megarididae, which is known only from the Neotropical region. General information about habi- tat, behavior, food habits and geographical distribu- tion of the families is included.
