Train services within Langside Ward - Verbal report noted – Request to Abellio Scotrail Limited.

3 There was heard a verbal report by Paul MacKay and Scott Prentice, Abellio Scotrail Limited regarding the train services within Langside Ward, advising that

(1) the coaches on the trains would be increased to 6 coaches by May 2019 on the service and by December 2019 on the Newton service;

(2) Scotrail shared timetables with bus services within the ward allowing both parties to work together to provide a multiple choice of transport for the public; and

(3) although punctuality of trains remained a concern there was a working plan in progress to improve this for the future.

After consideration, the Partnership

(a) thanked Paul MacKay and Scott Prentice for the report; and

(b) requested Abellio Scotrail Limited to investigate the following matters:-

(i) what City Council could do to tackle some of the issues raised such as contact Strathclyde Passenger Transport to determine if it could Lobby Transport to address changing demand due to demographical changes;

(ii) the replacement of current stock and increases in capacityon the Newton and Neilston service and Cathcart Circle service along with the timescales for these;

(iii) how Hampden events could be managed if they run over such as extra time at football matches and why has the frequency of the Kingspark service had not increased;

(iv) creating more capacity at Central Station; and

(v) information on the National Transport Strategy, which will be reviewed in 2019; and

(c) requested representatives from Abellio Scotrail Limited return to the Area Partnership meeting on 20th November 2018 to provide an update following consultation currently being done on ’s new 5 year funding plan.
