Public Transport Links to Ferry Ports 2013 Report of a survey of ferry users from October 2012 to September 2013 railfuture Public Transport Links to Ferry Ports 2013 Preface This survey was commissioned by railfuture, which is the campaigning name of the Railway Development Society Limited. railfuture is organised in 12 regional branches in England and 2 national branches for Scotland and Wales. We work with all levels of national, devolved and local government, train operators and like- minded voluntary bodies to promote the interests of rail users and secure improvements to rail services. We are completely independent of political parties, trades unions and railway management. The survey was prepared for the International Group of railfuture by Damian Bell, Trevor Garrod, Simon Hope, Julian Langston and Peter Walker, with assistance from Dick Clague (Isle of Man Travelwatch), to whom we give our sincere thanks. SCOTRAIL Franchise Service Level Commitment April 2015 This is the Service Level Committment in the Agreed Form marked “SLC” as referred to in the Definitions Agreement entered into between The Scottish Ministers and Abellio ScotRail Limited. ………..……………………………… ………..……………………………… 6475961-56475961-6 SERVICE LEVEL COMMITMENT Introduction This Service Level Commitment issued by the Authority for the purposes of Schedule 1.1 (Service Development) of the Franchise Agreement between the Scottish Ministers (“the Authority”) and Abellio ScotRail Limited (“the Franchisee”) dated 2014 (“the Franchise Agreement”) Part 1 – Interpretation and Definitions 1 Interpretation 1.1 References in this Service Level Commitment are to references in the Franchise Agreement unless expressly stated otherwise. 1.2 This Service Level Commitment shall unless expressly stated otherwise, be interpreted in accordance with the Definitions Agreement which is referred to in the Franchise Agreement. 1.3 The Franchisee shall have regard to and seek to deliver the Authority’s policy objectives as referred to in clause 4.4 of the Franchise Agreement in the interpretation and compliance with this Service Level Commitment. 2 Services 2.1 The following words and expressions have the following meanings in this Service Level Commitment: Service means any Passenger Service specified in this Service Level Commitment; Early Service means the Service which arrives at its destination at or before the time specified in each Route; Late Service means the Service which departs from the specified departure point at or after the time specified in each Route; Permitted Interval has the meaning given in paragraph 2.7 of this Service Level Commitment; Annex means the annexation in two parts to this Service Level Commitment, and the Annex forms part of this Service Level Commitment 2.2 Except where expressly stated to the contrary, where an interval or frequency is specified for a Service, such specification shall apply at the departure point for the relevant Service. -

Troon railway station was rebuilt in 1892 by master architect James Miller, and the town continued to establish itself as a superior resort for holiday makers drawn to the sandy beaches and the quality of its golf. Southwood is an exclusive enclave of houses laid out by the Duke of Portland’s plans between 1890 and 1914 and became popular with merchants due to the easy access to Glasgow by rail and its world famous golf courses. -

Buses serve both the local area and offer connections to Glasgow and the rest of Scotland. For more information visit: www.travelinescotland.com or www.stagecoachbus.com The 01 bus route in the direction of Hayhill connects both the bus and train stations with Craigie Way, a short walk from the Campus entrance. The journey takes around 15 minutes, and buses run every 15 minutes. By Train Ayr train station offers a regular service to Glasgow, with connections to the rest of the UK. A service also runs between Ayr and Stranraer, for ferry services to Ireland. The Riverside Campus is a 20-25 minute walk from Ayr train station. By Taxi If travelling by taxi, from the centre of Ayr or Prestwick Airport, ask for SRUC on the Riverside Campus at Craigie. A taxi from Ayr train station will cost around £5 and a taxi from Prestwick Airport will cost around £8. On Foot Those on foot are also able to access the Campus via the River Ayr Walk which runs along the north side of the river past the front of the Campus building. Starting at the High Street/Old Bridge Street, this offers a pleasant 20 minute stroll from the town centre. By Air Glasgow Prestwick Airport offers connecting flights to cities throughout the UK as well as Europe. The airport offers bus and taxi connections with Ayr town centre.
