Community Rail Events Programme Glasgow 3-5 October 2018 Free to all ACoRP Awards Attendees Glasgow City Chambers Civic Reception Wednesday 3rd October 7.30pm – 8.30pm Completed in 1888 and overlooking George Square, Glasgow City Cham- bers is one of the city’s most prestigious buildings and is the headquarters of Glasgow City Council. Kindly hosted by Glasgow City Council, The Lord Provost of the City (Eva Bolander) or one of the Bailies will greet delegates with a short speech, and all will then have the opportunity to network and enjoy drinks and canapes until event close. Educational / Social Excursions Thursday 4th October Option 1: Glasgow Central Station Tour The Glasgow Central Station tour, kindly provided by Network Rail, gives an exclusive behind the scenes look at the station; including the subterranean passageways beneath Glasgow’s streets. Delegates will also hear tales of the famous and infamous who have travelled the tracks and stood on the platforms of the station. Timeslots: 09.30-10.30, 10.30-11.30, or 11.30-12.30. Option 2: Tour of Kilmarnock Station The Kilmarnock Station Railway Heritage Trust was formed in 2014, to bring a number of redundant railway offices and rooms into community use. Attendees will also be able to view the ACoRP award winning public art project during the tour. Tour group will depart on the 09.43 service, arriving 10.21, and back on the 11.58 service arriving back at Glasgow Central 12.34. Community Rail Seminar Thursday 4th October The pre-dinner ACoRP Community Rail seminar will be hosted at the ScotRail office in Atrium Court, on Waterloo Street, Glasgow. Programme: 13.00 Arrive - tea-coffee/sandwiches 13.20 Welcome “Building the Best Railway…” 13.40 ScotRail in the Community Programme 14.00 Scottish CRP Presentation 1 14.10 Scottish CRP Presentation 2 14.20 CRP Presentation: Chester Shrewsbury Rail Partnership 14.30 CRP Presentation: Severnside CRP 14.40 CRP Presentation: Abbey Line CRP 14.50 CRP Presentation: Community Rail Cumbria 15.00 Open discussion facilitated by ACoRP 15.30 Event close 2018 Community Rail Dinner & Awards Ceremony Thursday 4th October Venue: Doubletree by Hilton , Cambridge Street, Glasgow, Programme: Drinks reception with RSNO performance. Introduction of Alex Hynes (ScotRail Alliance MD) and Jools Town- send (ACoRP Chief Exec) as main hosts. Speaker: Abellio MD Dominic Booth. Main Speaker: John Swinney, Deputy First Minister. Charity “Scot or NOT?” game hosted by Richard Salkeld beneficiaries MND Scotland and Simon Community Scotland. Dinner served, followed by awards ceremony. After dinner Ceilidh. Optional Social Activities Fri 5th October Option 1: Weymss Bay visit Tour departing from Glasgow Central Station. Friends of Weymss Bay will greet guests on arrival, and all to make their way back on the train at the end of the tour. Outbound 09.57 dep 10.47 arrival Return 13.57 dep 14.44 arrival Option 2: Dumfries Bio-diversity Garden visit Tour departing from Glasgow Central Station and the station adoption group South West Railway Adopters Gardening Group (SWRAGG) meeting guests on arrival. Guests will then make their way back via train at the end of the tour. Outbound 10.13 dep 11.57 arrival Return 13.51 dep 15.38 arrival Option 3: Borders Railway tour Tour departing from Glasgow and the Borders Railway Community Rail Part- nership (BRCP) meeting guests on arrival at Edinburgh, before all move on to the train trip to the Borders line. All guest will make their way back via train after the tour. *Train times TBC. Option 4: Largs Community Garden visit Tour departing from Glasgow Central Station and the gardening group meeting guests on arrival. All guest will make their way back via train after the tour.
