However, please help us by making this an accident free park and wear the appropriate footwear when walking in the park Now that the dark mornings and nights have started creeping in, please take care whilst driving within the park. As you are aware, the speed limit is 20mph, we would urge all, to please help by taking a little more care whilst on the park and be considerate to others around you, so we can all have a safe and happy Christmas. Below are some tips for your vehicle that can help keep you safe this winter. Lights are clean and working and switched on in low visibility, for other drivers visibility as well as your own. Edinburgh Gateway is a brand new station situated between South Gyle and Dalmeny, north east of the Gogar Roundabout that will offer a vibrant and modern gateway into Scotland’s capital city. The station will act as an important interchange, allowing rail passengers from Fife and further north to travel onto Edinburgh airport by tram for the final leg of their journey. Previously rail users had to take the train to Haymarket before connecting to the airport by tram or bus- effectively doubling back on themselves. The station is part of the Edinburgh –Glasgow Improvement Programme, which will see the electrification of railway lines across central Scotland. When did work start and when is the new station due to open? Work got underway on 24 November 2014 and the station is due to open on Sunday 11 December 2016 to coincide with the start of the new winter timetable. Customers will be able to buy tickets four weeks before the station opens. What will the station include/offer? Edinburgh Gateway will have two 265m long platforms (long enough to accommodate up to ten-carriage trains) which will be partly covered by 150m long canopies. Two footbridges will serve the station and six escalators. Lifts will provide step free access for passengers. One footbridge will link the station and the tram stop and the other will link the concourse and platform 1, towards Edinburgh. A secure covered area will provide convenient storage for bikes as well as five cycle lockers. These will be located next to the station building and will be monitored by CCTV. The lifts inside the station will be large enough to accommodate bikes. How are you looking after commuters? Seven arrivals from Fife into Edinburgh between 07:00-09:00 for commuters – same for departures between 16:00-18:00. The timetable will also provide a minimum of an hourly service to both Gateway and South Gyle from both sides of the Fife Circle. What about integrated transport options? Customers will be able transfer directly on trams to reach the airport. They will be under cover at all times. What about the economic impact of Edinburgh Gateway? Anticipated that Edinburgh Gateway will support future investment and growth by providing new journey opps, better direct connections to the city centre for Fife, Perth and Dundee-based customers as well as local residents in North Gyle and East Craigs. The Key Points are: · Improved city centre connections for Fife customers · Integrated hub with trams for travel to/from Edinburgh Airport · Six services per hour up from the current four between Edinburgh and Fife · Most people who use South Gyle come from Fife, so the timetable is structured to call at both stations to retain as much choice as possible · Extra services at peak times link to both ‘sides’ of the Fife Circle. · Seven arrivals from Fife into Edinburgh between 07:00-09:00 for commuters – same for departures between 16:00-18:00. · Direct services to Perth/Inverness and Dundee but no direct trains call at Edinburgh Gateway to/from Aberdeen · Better rail access for people in North Gyle and East Craigs areas, supporting future housing developments etc Abellio Scotrail Ltd Work, Life Balance Wednesday 10th November What is healthy?
