November 2014 and the Station Is Due to Open on Sunday 11 December 2016 to Coincide with the Start of the New Winter Timetable Edinburgh Park SAFETY IN THE WINTER WEATHER With winter fast approaching we will do everything within our power to ensure that all paths and roads are salted and ice/snow free where possible. However, please help us by making this an accident free park and wear the appropriate footwear when walking in the park Now that the dark mornings and nights have started creeping in, please take care whilst driving within the park. As you are aware, the speed limit is 20mph, we would urge all, to please help by taking a little more care whilst on the park and be considerate to others around you, so we can all have a safe and happy Christmas. Below are some tips for your vehicle that can help keep you safe this winter. Lights are clean and working and switched on in low visibility, for other drivers visibility as well as your own. Battery is fully charged Windscreen, wiper blades and other windows are clean and the washer bottle filled with screen wash Tyre condition, tread depth and pressure (of all the tyres, including the spare) Brakes are working well Fluids are kept topped up, especially windscreen wash (to the correct concentration to prevent it freezing), anti-freeze and oil With the party season now in full swing, remember to be responsible and take extra care when out and about . BARRIER TAG/FOBS- USAGE Below are, confirmation of key points which are within the Terms & Conditions, relating to usage of barrier tags. Barrier tags are non-transferrable and cannot be given to anyone else for any reason Anyone found to be in possession of a tag which is not in their name, the tag will be deactivated and it may not be reinstated. Only the registered tag holders will be eligible to apply for the refundable deposit even if money has changed hands between staff. Only staff employed within Edinburgh Park are able to apply for/ be in possession of a tag. If a tag holder is seen to allow other road users through the barrier for any reason, their tag will be deactivated. These guidelines are to protect the Edinburgh park employees and we would welcome everyone's support in following the procedures. Please do not use your tag/fob to allow any other vehicle through the barrier, regardless of reason, as this is against the T&C’s. Direct other vehicles to the intercom which is manned 24/7 for assistance. The Current T&C’s supersede all other previous versions and can be found on the website—www.edinburghpark.com Edinburgh Park Information NEW EDINBURGH GATEWAY STATION – OPENING 11TH DEC 2016 Edinburgh Gateway Q&A What is Edinburgh Gateway? Edinburgh Gateway is a brand new station situated between South Gyle and Dalmeny, north east of the Gogar Roundabout that will offer a vibrant and modern gateway into Scotland’s capital city. The station will act as an important interchange, allowing rail passengers from Fife and further north to travel onto Edinburgh airport by tram for the final leg of their journey. Previously rail users had to take the train to Haymarket before connecting to the airport by tram or bus- effectively doubling back on themselves. The station is part of the Edinburgh –Glasgow Improvement Programme, which will see the electrification of railway lines across central Scotland. When did work start and when is the new station due to open? Work got underway on 24 November 2014 and the station is due to open on Sunday 11 December 2016 to coincide with the start of the new winter timetable. Customers will be able to buy tickets four weeks before the station opens. What will the station include/offer? Edinburgh Gateway will have two 265m long platforms (long enough to accommodate up to ten-carriage trains) which will be partly covered by 150m long canopies. Two footbridges will serve the station and six escalators. Lifts will provide step free access for passengers. One footbridge will link the station and the tram stop and the other will link the concourse and platform 1, towards Edinburgh. A secure covered area will provide convenient storage for bikes as well as five cycle lockers. These will be located next to the station building and will be monitored by CCTV. The lifts inside the station will be large enough to accommodate bikes. How are you looking after commuters? Seven arrivals from Fife into Edinburgh between 07:00-09:00 for commuters – same for departures between 16:00-18:00. The timetable will also provide a minimum of an hourly service to both Gateway and South Gyle from both sides of the Fife Circle. What about integrated transport options? Customers will be able transfer directly on trams to reach the airport. They will be under cover at all times. What about the economic impact of Edinburgh Gateway? Anticipated that Edinburgh Gateway will support future investment and growth by providing new journey opps, better direct connections to the city centre for Fife, Perth and Dundee-based customers as well as local residents in North Gyle and East Craigs. The Key Points are: · Improved city centre connections for Fife customers · Integrated hub with trams for travel to/from Edinburgh Airport · Six services per hour up from the current four between Edinburgh and Fife · Most people who use South Gyle come from Fife, so the timetable is structured to call at both stations to retain as much choice as possible · Extra services at peak times link to both ‘sides’ of the Fife Circle. · Seven arrivals from Fife into Edinburgh between 07:00-09:00 for commuters – same for departures between 16:00-18:00. · Direct services to Perth/Inverness and Dundee but no direct trains call at Edinburgh Gateway to/from Aberdeen · Better rail access for people in North Gyle and East Craigs areas, supporting future housing developments etc Abellio Scotrail Ltd Work, Life Balance Wednesday 10th November What is healthy? The impressive array of innovations and successes in this report has been driven by the communities themselves, with support from industry, with a vision of getting more from their railways and making a difference to local people. Their efforts are returning many stations to the heart of the community, creating hubs for arts, education, enterprise, volunteering, healthy living, and social interaction. In turn, this generates pride and interest in the railway from the community, enhancing stations, and providing a warm welcome for rail passengers.
