It’s more than a gala that brings you together. It’s an important cause, and your shared commitment and generous solidarity. And the opportunity, and why not, to blend pleasure and practicality in the company of a famous and highly esteemed actor at this year’s Annual McGill Head and Neck Cancer Fundraiser.
So allow me these words of tribute to Mr. Michael Douglas, gracing Montréal with his visit, words in praise of his inspiring determination.
When we are aware of how many people a year are struck by cancer, when we think of the battle they have to wage, then the significance of an event such as this comes fully into focus. The benefits from this gala will give scientists and health professionals the means to ceaselessly advance the frontiers of science in researching and treating cancer or other diseases that affect the neck and head.
Thank you to those who made this evening possible and, of course, to everyone whose presence here enables McGill University hospitals and laboratories to continue their work and their meritorious mission that helps to change the world.

The mission of the oncology program of the McGill Department of Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery is to provide quality care for cancer patients in Montreal and throughout Quebec. This high standard could not be met without the gracious support from the community.
