Scope and Content

This collection contains news clippings, scrapbooks, articles, obituaries, ephemera, narratives, speeches, memorabilia, and photographs about Charles A. Lindbergh primarily focusing on his 1927 transatlantic flight and the 40th, 50th, and 60th anniversary of that event.

Materials were collected by an unknown source, and were not created by Charles A. Lindbergh himself. The collection arrived in fair condition and was initially processed with only a container list as description. Due to a change of the content management system, further description proved to be necessary. The Charles A. Lindbergh Collection is housed in two boxes of varying sizes, totaling 2.5 linear ft.

The archivist identified four series with the first being the Charles A. Lindbergh and Spirit of St. Louis Series. Materials cover Lindbergh's and Anne Morrow Lindbergh's life including the abduction of their son; the aircraft Spirit of St. Louis; the Charles A. Lindbergh Memorial Fund, through images, clippings, articles, narratives, speeches press releases, press kits, and blueprints.

The second series is the Flights Series, which focuses on the original transatlantic flight as well as the 40th, 50th, and 60th anniversary of this event, as well as Lindbergh's flights through clippings, articles, first day cover and commemorative stamp, and ephemera.

The third series is the Photographs Series, which depict Lindbergh's life and his aircraft.

The forth series is the Ephemera and Memorabilia Series. Materials are decals, greeting cards, photoprints, posters, a 17.0x18.0" cotton cloth beige with burgundy print depicting Lindbergh and themes from his transatlantic flight, two 10.0x14.5" pennants, red and blue, Welcome Lindbergh, and two 35.0x19.0" cotton cloths, blue with white printing, 1930 National Air Races.
