At this point, it is my great pleasure to introduce the other members of our senior staff who are here this morning: Mr. Julien DeShutter - Vice President Airport Marketing Mr. Frank Jakowski - Vice President Finance and Chief Financial Officer Mr. Bob Schmitt -Vice President Airport Development Mr. John Terpstra - Senior Director Terminal Operations Mr. Wayne Smook - Senior Director Airside Operations Mrs. Myrna Dube – Senior Director Land & Business Development Mr. Stephan Poirier, Senior Director, Passenger & Air Cargo Development is currently away on business. I would also like to acknowledge all Airport Authority staff members who have taken time out of their day to join us here this morning. This Annual General Meeting is one of our key opportunities to demonstrate accountability to our stakeholders, by reporting on both the results of operations for the past year, as well as the main objectives for 2004. Our responsibility to be accountable is exercised in a number other ways, including the preparation of an annual report which is being released today, annual meetings with the four bodies that appoint members to our Board of Directors, independent reviews every five years, an extensive regulatory environment for airport operations, extensive commitments to Transport Canada under our Canada Lease and a wide range of meetings with airlines, three levels of government and many civic groups throughout the year. 1 We operate both the Calgary International and Springbank Airports. 2003 was an exciting year for these airports and I am pleased to report that the Airport Authority met all key financial and operational objectives.

    Episode 6, NC-4: First Across the Atlantic, Pensacola, Florida and Hammondsport, NY Elyse Luray: Our first story examines a swatch of fabric which may be from one of history’s most forgotten milestones: the world's first transatlantic flight. May 17th, 1919. The Portuguese Azores. Men in whaling ships watched the sea for their prey, harpoons at the ready. But on this morning, they make an unexpected and otherworldly sighting. A huge gray flying machine emerges from the fog, making a roar unlike anything they have ever heard before. Six American airmen ride 20,000 pounds of wood, metal, fabric and fuel, and plunge gently into the bay, ending the flight of the NC-4. It was journey many had thought impossible. For the first time, men had flown from America to Europe, crossing the vast Atlantic Ocean. But strangely, while their voyage was eight years before Charles Lindbergh's flight, few Americans have ever heard of the NC-4. Almost 90 years later, a woman from Saratoga, California, has an unusual family heirloom that she believes was a part of this milestone in aviation history. (WestJet) was finishing up in October 2015, Richard Bartrem, vice-president of marketing and communications, met with Greg Hounslow, manager of social media, to discuss the growth and evolution of WestJet’s social media presence. As Canada’s second largest airline, WestJet had already achieved immense success with social media and had ambitions to expand its social media presence. Gander was posthumously awarded the Dickin Medal in 2000. Sgt. Gander, a Newfoundland dog, and other animals who served in Canada's military are recognized on the Veterans Affairs Canada. A grenade killed Sgt. Gander. He grabbed it and ran, taking it away from his men. It took his life when it exploded, but his action saved many. The book Sergeant Gander: A Canadian Hero, by St. Thomas' own Robyn Walker, is called "a fascinating account of the Royal Rifles of Canada's canine mascot, and his devotion to duty during the Battle of Hong Kong in the Second World War." Intended for children, it is very informative for anyone interested in Newfoundland dogs, Newfoundland or Canada's role in WWII. It has an amazing history and the list of recipients includes dogs, pigeons, cats, and horses.
