MAIN ACTIVITIES

 On 12 January, authorities have demolished Mokoto IDPs site in Masisi where 4,246 IDPs were living. UNHCR and its Protection Cluster Partners undertook advocacy activities concerning respect to the closure of IDP sites.  A joint UNHCR-CNR-DGM mission evaluated refugee presence on -Satema axis where an estimated 4,000 refugees from the live.  4,874 refugees from South Sudan and 2,500 DRC returnees received food assistance in Dungu, Haut-Uele province.  374 Rwandan refugees have voluntarily repatriated from (279) and (95) to Rwanda.  738 protection incidents documented in Ituri, Bas-Uele and Haut-Uele provinces.

Major achievements  73 transitional shelters have been constructed in Ango (41) and Bondo (32) for people with specific needs.  95 transitional shelters have been constructed for the reintegration of returnees in Rutshuru and Nyiragongo Territories.  Last year, 762 transitional shelters have been constructed with Pooled Fund support in Katanga.  UNHCR has finalized biometric registration of Rwandan refugees in and Itombwe ( province). 10,332 refugees have been registered.  A food fair has been organized in Lusenda camp (Burundian refugees) from 14 to 17 January.  UNHCR’s partner AIDES has sensitized 2,833 people in Boyabu camp/Libenge and neighbors, 400 individuals in Bili/Bosobolo and 130 in Inke/Gbadolite on SGBV key concepts notably rape and physical violence.  In Mboti/Ango, ADES has organized for farmers a door to door sensitization on arable and cleaning land as well as maintaining of cassava field.
