The Museum Travel Alliance (MTA) provides museums with the opportunity to offer their members and patrons high-end educational travel programming. Trips are available exclusively through MTA members and co- sponsoring non-profit institutions. This voyage is co-sponsored by The Metropolitan Museum of Art, the National Trust for Historic Preservation, and the Association of Yale Alumni.

Our visit includes the Archaeological Museum, with its fine collection of early Cylcadic marble figures, as well the marble quarry of Flerio where two massive kouroi lie unfinished and abandoned.B,L,D

THURSDAY, JULY 25: FOLEGANDROS This morning we arrive at the island of Folegandros. Explore the village of Chora with its centuries-old walls and a unique center comprised of three town squares. View the Kastro, the 8thcentury Venetian fortress, and the hilltop Church of Panaghia which offers magnificent views of the west coast. B,L,D

FRIDAY, JULY 26: MONEMVASIA After a morning at sea, arrive at Monemvasia on the Peloponnese. Known as “Greece’s Gibraltar,” this Byzantine fortified town lies within a depression on a steep rock 984 feet high, connected to the mainland by a narrow causeway. Explore its dense warren of , churches, ramparts, and charming squares. B,L,D

TUESDAY, JULY 23: DELOS / MYKONOS Cross the Aegean this morning to call at the pristine island of Delos. Tiny and uninhabited, Delos is the mythical birthplace of Apollo and Artemis. On a walking tour, explore the extensive ruins of this UNESCO World Heritage Site, including the main shrines of Apollo and Artemis, the startlingly detailed mosaics found in excavated mansions, and the iconic Terrace of the Lions. Many of Hydra’s 18th- and 19th-century stone mansions have been restored by artists and writers, and the island’s tiny harbor is ringed with cafes and art galleries. By special arrangement, we are invited to the home of a collector. Enjoy an afternoon under sail and gather this evening for the captain’s farewell dinner. B,L,D
