Turkish Language Proficiency Level

TURKISH LANGUAGE PROFICIENCY LEVEL

(1) International student, who fail to deliver their Turkish Proficiency Certificate to the Student Affairs Office during registration, cannot proceed in the department/program which he/she was registered. The student can obtain Turkish language proficiency at Sakarya University TÖMER as well as the education or examination certificates of Yunus Emre Institute and the certificates which indicate that the student is successful in the competence exam as a result of the B2-C1 education at which has been taken by the student Language Education Centers of Gazi University, Ankara University, Istanbul University, and Hacettepe University. (2) a) According to the registration calendar announced by the University's International Student Office - Institute Registrar's Office, the exemption of the student is accepted through the education or exam certificates of the Yunus Emre Institute, where the student received Turkish preparatory education before the university enrollment start date and with the certificates showing that the student is successful in the competence exam as a result of the B2-C1 education which has taken by the student at Gazi University, Ankara University, Istanbul University, and Hacettepe University. According to the decision of the Senate Board, a Turkish Proficiency Exam certificate obtained from any university, except the examination result of Yunus Emre Institute, is not accepted. Sakarya University TOMER reserves the right not to accept the certificate in case of any hesitation in the certificates or exemption documents. Students who fail to submit a Turkish proficiency certificate to the University between the registration dates are required to take the Turkish proficiency exam to be held by Sakarya University TOMER. After the exam held by Sakarya University TOMER, the student's certificate from another language teaching center is not accepted by Sakarya University. This information is announced to the students by the student affairs during registration. The accuracy of the certificates brought from another university must be ensured by the staff of the relevant student affairs (International Student Office-Institute). In the absence of a verification system, the student must take the proficiency and exemption exam, which is organized by Sakarya University TOMER. b) Students who have diplomas from Kyrgyzstan Manas State University and Kazakhstan Ahmed Yesevi University in accordance with the protocol of YOK are exempt from TOMER education if they apply to our university within two years. c) The international student who will be registered in the Undergraduate / Associate Degree program and has the Ministry of National Education Turkish High School diploma. If the student proves that he/she has completed four years of high school education in Turkey with a transcript, he/she is exempted from Turkish preparatory education when he/she enrolls in higher education within two years from the date of graduation. ç) The international student who will be registered in the undergraduate/associate degree program and who has a diploma from Maarif Foundation schools is exempted from Turkishpreparatory education if he/she took Turkish lessons in each year during his/her high school education and proved his/her success with a transcript. d) Students who have completed their associate, undergraduate, or graduate education in any university in Turkey are exempted from Turkish preparatory education if they enroll in higher education within 2 years from the date of graduation. e) The validity period of Turkish Proficiency certificates is 2 (two) years, including the Turkish Proficiency Exams of Yunus Emre Institute. f) Students who completed their high school education in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) will be exempted if they apply for Undergraduate/Associate Degree education within 2 years. g) If a student who has completed his associate, bachelor, master, and doctorate education in Turkey wants to enroll in an equivalent program, he/she will be exempted if he/she enrolls within two years from the date of graduation.

(3) C1 Educational Competence

Students who will start their undergraduate/associate degree education with B2 have the right to take the Proficiency Exam to be held by Sakarya University TÖMER in September every year, free of charge. If the student fails these exams, he/she can choose a course from the 1st class with the B2 training certificate. After this process, the students in question are given a free exam right at the beginning of the fall semester each year. Students cannot graduate if they fail at the end of the exam rights offered until their graduation. For graduates, C1 certificates from other state universities' language education centers can be accepted by the decision of the Senate.

(4)If the student does not have Turkish language proficiency and who receives Turkish preparatory education at Sakarya University TOMER as a Turkish scholar or by his own means and then if he/she fails the Turkish proficiency exam after his/her education, she/he can bring the exam result or training certificate of Yunus Emre Institute and the A B2 or C1 education certificate of Ankara University, Gazi University Hacettepe University and Istanbul University and these certificates will be accepted. Certificates from these language centers must be successfully obtained from the level exams as a result of education. Exam results obtained from the mentioned universities without training are not accepted. The decision to start the education is made by the relevant education unit for students who want to start the education in the mid-term period and those who enroll after the beginning of the education period and who have a Turkish Proficiency Certificate. Education cannot be started in the mid-term semester in education units that provide annual education (Medicine-Dentistry).
