Biographical / Historical

The SCA (Stabilimento di Costruzione Aeronautiche) N.1 "Norge" Airship took off from Spitsbergen, Norway on May 11, 1926 with a crew that included pilot (and the ship's designer) and explorers and . The "Norge" crossed over the on May 12, 1926, completing the first verified transpolar flight in history, before landing a few days later at Teller, Alaska. While crossing the Pole, the crew dropped Norwegian, American, and Italian flags.
