    Convocados por el pedagogo cubano Salomón Gadles Mikowsky, se reúnen por segunda vez en La Habana Vieja jóvenes pianistas de diversas latitudes para hacer honor a la música, la más bella forma de lo bello, como la definiera el Apóstol de Cuba. Y será precisamente el Teatro Martí, recientemente restaurado por la Oficina del Historiador de la Ciudad, la sala insignia de este II Encuentro de Jóvenes Pianistas. Del 5 al 29 de junio, con sede también en la Basílica Menor del Convento de San Francisco de Asís y en la Sala Ignacio Cervantes, otros de los espa- cios del Centro Histórico consagrados a la música y dotados de magníficos instrumentos, se desarrollará una programación de 18 conciertos, muchos de los cuales serán acompañados por la Orquesta Sinfónica Nacional que conduce el maestro y amigo Enrique Pérez Mesa. De esta manera, tendrá lugar una fraternal confluencia entre los esfuerzos conjuntos de la Oficina del Historiador, el Instituto Cubano de la Música y el Centro Nacional de la Música de Concierto para dar a esta magna cita todo el realce que merece la excelencia de los artistas invitados. Los conciertos para piano y orquesta sonarán en el Teatro Martí, antes Irijoa, que después de 40 años volvió a abrir sus puertas. Inaugurado en 1884, gracias al noble esfuerzo de un inmigrante español, don Ricardo Irijoa, en 1899 es renombrado Teatro Martí en vísperas de celebrarse la Asamblea Constituyente que, tras el cese del poder colonial, debía crear las bases legítimas de la naciente República. Es el momento cuando, en las calles habaneras y otros lugares de Cuba, comienza a rendirse tributo al héroe, al apóstol, al maestro, al poeta, al político, al orador insigne… Al dejarlo reinaugurado, el 24 de febrero de este año en curso, se cumplía uno de nuestros más acariciados sueños gracias al trabajo tesonero de hombres y mujeres que laboraron en su restauración.
