PEABODY, A3 Murals Rock (the Block) Swampscott focuses on customer service By Thor Jourgensen ITEM STAFF SWAMPSCOTT — Town Hall’s new customer ser- vice team captures the “one-stop shopping” experi- ence Administrator Sean Fitzgerald said residents deserve when they conduct town business. The three-woman of ce is also an example of how job titles unchanged for years in Town Hall are get- ting rede ned, even scrapped, in an effort, Fitzgerald said, to build more ef ciency into town government. “Ef ciency and resiliency are challenges for every town,” he said. Former Assistant Town Accountant Crissy Rapo- so is supervising the customer service team with Elena Berube hired as a customer service represen- tative with Spanish-language uency and Dianne Folan, whose previous town experience was in the Assessing Department. “I see this as a really exciting change as once the of ce is fully activated it will be a one-stop shop for 80 percent of all the customer service needs for our residents,” Fitzgerald said. Residents walking into Town Hall with property tax and permit questions and other needs can get answers in one of ce instead of “having to literally go to three or four oors to accomplish that,” Fitzgerald said. But Fitzgerald, who signed a four-year contract to work in Swampscott in 2017 and received high marks from the Select Board in 2018, acknowledged that reorganization and resulting changes aren’t limited to any single town of ce. “Anytime we have a change, we conduct a vacancy review to ensure we are evaluating the job duties and options for greater ef ciencies both for operations and for Swampscott’s bottom line,” he said. By Harold Rivera ITEM SPORTS EDITOR LYNN — When Pat Salvi purchased the North Shore Navigators in 2012, he knew exactly who to entrust with the team’s day-to-day operations. Ohio native Bill Terlecky, who has a decorated career in minor league , has held the role for the past nine years. “I’ve worked in baseball for 41 years and when Pat decided he was going to buy Lynn and wanted to buy Lynn, he called me up,” Terlecky, 65, said. “We had a prior relationship. He asked if I’d go run it for him and I said, ‘I’m there.’” Since then, Terlecky has called Lynn “home.” He has made it a point to provide Navigators fans with a top-notch experience at Fraser Field while involving the organization in community activities. “When you’re in my end of it, the thing you enjoy most is at the end of the day when you’ve had a big crowd, you worked your tail off to put it all together, you’ve had a great night at PHOTO | JOE BROWN the ballpark and you send everybody home happy,” Terlecky said. “I think Matt McCreedy, who was on the winning team, that’s what the essence of the job is. shoots his way out of the rough during the Tedesco Filling the ballpark with a big crowd, Fourball Invitational Tournament Sunday. there’s nothing better.” Earlier this week, Terlecky an- nounced his decision to retire at the end of the Navigators’ season.
