● Running Loyola´s Fall and Spring Programs for 21 years. ● Madrid-based professor ● Working with our students on all aspects of their study abroad experience (questions, concerns, illnesses, academics and housing), I also teach the required course for our students. ● Helping students get acclimated to their new surroundings and direct them to the appropriate personnel or office that can assist them with any questions they may have. ● Cultural excursions and special meals: I accompany our students on all our cultural trips, activities and special meals organized by our program.

For emergencies and personal safety.- Students are given my cell phone number upon arrival so that students can reach me at all times. Assisted by University of Alcalá staff, we're committed to keeping our students safe. During Orientation days, we will familiarize you with our emergency procedures, so that you are prepared in the unlikely event of an emergency. Qualifying and Applying on time

- Students must attend at least 1 information session - Minimum cumulative GPA required: 2.75 - No history of serious disciplinary trouble. 2 disciplinary checks (at the time of application and right before departure.) - Students must take one course - The course needs to work with your graduation requirements - Deadline to apply: February 1, 2021 - Students must submit all paperwork on time, and attend all workshops and pre-departure orientations Costs

● Program fee: $3,850 (airfare not included) ● Includes: ○ Tuition for one course ○ Housing: room and board (3 meals per day from Monday through Sunday, cleaning service, changing of sheets and towels once a week) ○ Group excursions and activities, organized trips on weekends (transportation, breakfast, tickets, special group meals), and airport transfers ● Not included: Student visa costs; personal expenses; personal travel Academics & Cultural Field Trips

- All students must take 1 of the following courses: - 1) SN 300 Literature (Representaciones de España en la Literatura de Viajes Americana e Inglesa) - 2) ML 300 and EN*2 upper level core requirement (Representations of Spain in Anglo-American Travel Writings) - Pre-requisites: EN 101 (Understanding Literature) or proof of direct placement in SN201 and SN203 or SN217. - All courses are 3 credit courses, 39 to 42 contact hours, including classes taught in a classroom and classes taught during our visits. - Classes will take place in our classroom at the UAH as well as in different museums and monuments around Madrid, and during our field trips. Work during our activities and cultural trips will also count for credit - Schedule of Classes: Monday through Thursday for one hour and a half from June 2nd to June 23th - TENTATIVE: Non-Mandatory Group Field Trips with On-Site Director: June 11-12-13 & June 19 - 20. - All classes and visits will be in the morning and end before lunch time so students will have free time afterword to explore the city and surroundings. (Lunch time in Spain goes from 1:30 pm to 3:00 pm) TENTATIVE Field Trips (accompanied by Loyola program Director): Toledo, , Córdoba, Sevilla, and Valencia) The so called Madrid beach: VALENCIA (one hour and a half from Madrid in the high-speed train, AVE / four hours by car) Health & Safety

- You will have to use your American insurance or purchase the insurance on Loyola´s website in Baltimore. - You will have to provide proof that your health insurance will cover you abroad at least for emergencies or you will have to purchase additional coverage. Students have to pay upfront when they are sick abroad and get reimbursed by their insurance. FIRST THREE DAYS BEFORE CLASSES
