MEET OUR SPEAKERS

Margarita Satini

Margarita Satini is known for her community work in social justice; she is a passionate community activist and advocate for her Pacific Islander People and works towards bolstering civic engagement participation within her community. In addition, Margarita has of experience running political campaigns, conducting community lobbying trainings, and working in underrepresented, underserved communities. Margarita is currently focused on ensuring an accurate count of ’s Pacific Islander community for the 2020 census.

Margarita is also a community organizer with an environmental organization working with communities throughout Utah to shift the dependency on coal to generating renewable energy from alternative sources, working towards a just transition in extractive communities, fighting environmental racism, educating, and creating partnerships with communities most impacted by natural disasters.

Margarita Satini lives in Midvale, Utah with her partner James and has 4 adult children, three sons & one daughter, and four grandkids, 3 grandsons and one granddaughter MEET OUR SPEAKERS

Adam P. Carbullido

Adam P. Carbullido is the director of policy and advocacy of the Association of Asian Pacific Community Health Organizations (AAPCHO), where he is responsible for developing and implementing the association’s legislative and regulatory strategy. In this role, Adam leads AAPCHO’s engagement with Members of Congress,

Administration officials, national partners, and other community stakeholders to advance policies that improve health access and outcomes of Asian Americans, Native Hawaiians, and Pacific Islanders and the community health providers that serve them in the , U.S. territories, and Freely Associated States. He is the co-chair of the National Council of Asian Pacific Americans (NCAPA) Health Committee.

Prior to joining AAPCHO in December 2018, Adam worked for nearly a decade in the U.S. House of Representatives advocating for the rights and priorities of his home island of Guam and other U.S. territories. He served as chief of staff to Congresswoman Madeleine Z. Bordallo of Guam. He also served as Congresswoman Bordallo’s communications director and senior policy advisor for health, immigration, and tax issues. Adam received his Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of Notre Dame in South Bend, Indiana. He resides in , D.C. with his partner Bobby. MEET OUR SPEAKERS

Asena Filihia

'Asena Taione-Filihia is a mother of 3 children, daughter to Taione Tu’ikolovatu and Makeleta Filimoehala Taione, wife and younger sister. She is a scholar-practitioner advocating for Pacific Islanders in Southern .

She currently serves as the Assistant Director of the Asian American Resource. Center at Pomona College. Her office and AARC Interns work in collaboration with MALO to host Saturday Tongan Education Program (STEP). She is a co-founder of the Native and Pacific Islander Summer Intensive Transfer Experience program at CCCP/UCLA. She also serves as the Program Director for MALO Motivating Action Leadership Opportunity, a non-profit organization serving the Tongan and broader NHPI community Inland Empire.

She holds an AA in Liberal Studies from LA Valley College, BA in Communication Studies from CSU Northridge and a Master’s degree in Education from UCLA. ‘Asena is deeply committed to culturally-informed efforts that improve the quality of life and access for residents in the and especially among NHPI communities. Talavou Aumavae

Talavou Aumavae is a community activist and has been serving his community since his early years in high school. He currently is coordinating census outreach and voter engagement efforts as a Community Engagement Specialist with the Peninsula Conflict Center (PCRC).

Moreover, Talavou has recently returned to school in the hopes of earning a degree in Political Science. He most recently was just hired on to be a summer intern with Asian American Pacific Islanders for Biden, and is one of two Pacific Islanders out of the thirty total interns. Lastly, in the next coming months, Talavou will be coordinating efforts of the Pacific Islander Health Ambassador program, and bringing awareness to some health disparities in the Pacific Islander community. David Anitok

David Kona Anitok is a father of 4 children, only son to Rev. Jeledrik Binejal and Kaki Binejal, proud husband to Lucinda Brokken-Anitok and the eldest brother of three. He is an expert advocate for Pacific Islanders in the Pacific Northwest and currently stationed in Washington.

David currently serves as the Project Director of the COFA Alliance National Network of Washington and a co-founder of the COFA Alliance National Network. He also serves as the Co-Chair to the Pacific Islander COVID-19 Policy and Funding Task Force in Washington. David is known as one of the trusted consultants to the COFA Leadership Taskforce for the Pacific Island American Health Forum to restore Medicaid for all COFA residents in the United States.

He's responsible for passing seven unanimous COFA legislations in and two in Washington State for Health, Law Enforcement, and Oral Care. David's passion for civic engagement, health equity, nuclear and social justice is inspired from the Marshallese and Micronesian ancestral knowledge as navigators of the .
