Notes for Henry Thorne Shepherd: In 1886 Henry Thorne SHEPHERD (junior) of Kirwee, Canterbury farmer had bankruptcy proceedings taken against him. He owed 1576 pounds to the National Mortgage Agency and other smaller amoounts.

Henry Thorne SHEPHERD (Junior) farmer died on 14 April 1910 in Matamata aged 70y The cause of death was Arteris Sclerosis and dilation of heart suffered for some years. He is buried in Waharoa. His death certificate says that he was in NZ for 41 years ie he arrived in 1868 -- This is not correct as he arrived on the "Lanchasthire Witch" om 1863 with his father and sisters Mary Anne and Jane.

He was married at the age of 38y in Christchurch to Mary Dillon KEMP and had one living child - florence age 30y. 2nd Child Olive Maud died in Melbourne in 1896 aged 15yrs
