4 Crime (Assaults on Emergency Services Staff): Motion for leave to bring in a Bill (Standing Order No. 23) Ordered, That leave be given to bring in a Bill to make certain offences including malicious wounding, grievous or actual bodily harm and common assault aggravated when perpetrated against a constable, firefighter, doctor, paramedic or nurse in the execution of his or her duty or against a person assisting these persons in the execution of their duty; to make provision to require those suspected of certain assaults that may pose a health risk, including spitting, to be required to undergo blood tests and to make it an offence, without reasonable excuse, to refuse to undergo such tests; to make provision about the sentences for those convicted of the offences; and for connected purposes; That Holly Lynch, Conor McGinn, Rob Marris, , Anna Turley, Michael Dugher, Scott Mann, , Tom Blenkinsop, Tracy Brabin, Jim Shannon and Philip Davies present the Bill. 5 European Union (Notification of Withdrawal) Bill: Committee of the Whole House (second day) The House again resolved itself into a Committee (Programme Order, 1 February). Since it was more than four hours after the commencement of proceedings on the Bill on the second day, the Chair put the Question necessary to bring proceedings on new Clauses and new Schedules relating to a vote on the final terms of the United Kingdom’s withdrawal from the European Union to a conclusion (Programme Order, 1 February). 14 European Committee C in respect of European Union Document No. 7195/16, a Commission Communication: Steel: Preserving sustainable jobs and growth in Europe. Phil Wilson (Chair) reported the following resolution: That the Committee takes note of European Union Document No. 7195/16, a Communication from the Commission on Steel: Preserving sustainable jobs and growth in Europe; and notes the action taken by the Government to secure a sustainable and competitive future for the steel industry in the United Kingdom.
