THE PLAYERS present SHILOH O£wH8£1 by Philip 'King & Falkland Carey 5HI[08 BElMOR£1 A very warm welcome along to our Spring production 'Sailor Beware!' by Philip King and Falkland Carey. This is a play which we have considered putting on for some time, but only now are we able to cast it. NEW FACES As you will probably notice from the cast list, there are a number of new faces on the stage tonight. We wish Susan Hayton, Lindsay Young, Stephanie Sanderson, Kelly Marshall, Paul Crawford and Jim Elliot lots of luck in their JGP debut. Both Stephanie and Paul were involved in the last play 'Suspect' helping behind the scenes with the lighting and sound. Backstage tonight there are also new members; John Stockwell, Michael Hume and Mike Ziahal who all come under the watchful eye of our Stage Manager, David Brotchie. Also Evelyn Joyce who has the unenviable job of prompting this evening.

THANKS We would like to take this opportunity to express our sincere thanks to Trinity Typesetting for very kindly offering to typeset this programme for us.

We would also like to say a big thank you to Lt Commander Nicholas McNally RNR, HMS &otia for kindly providing the sailors' uniforms for this production.

The cafeteria tonight is being looked after by Mary MacDonald. It is normally a somewhat thankless task which can all too easily be forgotten about - so many thanks Mary. Our appreciation is also extended to the and Juniper Green Post Offices for selling tickets for us. ADVERTISING If you feel you might be interested in advertising your business in the programme for the next play in November, then please contact the Publicity Manager, Keith Mackenzie on 441 3336. It is a relatively inex pensive way to spread the word to a surprisingly large number of people. PLAYS OF THE PAST If you are one for memories or would just be interested in having a look back at pictures of previous plays, then you will find the JGP photo albums in the Coffee Bar. Our records in these albums date back to 1947 and we are sure you will find them of interest. Please feel free to ,w look through them at your leisure. --_.:._-- It just remains to thank you for supporting the Juniper Green Players tonight. We very much value your attendance at our plays, because without you - there wouldn't be a show. Please come along to our next production which will be on 21, 22 and 23 November 1991. We hope to see you then.

The history of the club is becoming lost in the mists of time.

In 1926, shortly after his arrival as Minister of St. Andrews, the Rev. George S. Gunn was instrumental in forming the Literary Society. A year later in 1927 the drama section was started with the unwieldy title of 'The St. Andrew (Juniper Green) Literary and Debating Society (Drama Section). They performed one playa year, the first being 'Hardel vs Pickwick'.

Amonst the plays performed in these early days were: 'Mystery at Greenfinger' 'Lilies of the Field' 'The Importance of being Earnest' 'Marigold' 'Eliza comes to stay' 'Trial by Fury' and a large selection of one act plays.

The plays were originally presented in the 'small hall' and the actors entered from the Vestry. The large hall was built in the mid-thirties and is now used as the theatre. The platform is enlarged using a sectional extension, which doubles the area of the stage, and the set is constructed by the players.

In 1954 the club shortened its name to the St. Andrew Players, and this was changed to the Juniper Green Players when the churches of St. Andrews and St. Margarets became one. The badge was first used in March 1958.

Throughout their existence the aim of the club has been to provide good entertainment for the whole family and, hopefully, to fulfil a useful role in the social life of Juniper Green village. RINITY typesetting
