Középiskoláit Mosonmagyar­ óváron, egyetemi tanulmányait Gödöllőn, az Agrártudo­ mányi Egyetem Állattenyésztési Karán végezte, 1959- r- ben kapott agrármérnöki oklevelet. 1965-ben egyetemi doktori fokozatot szerzett. 1970-ben sikeresen megvéd­ te Tangl Harald Kossuth-díjas egyetemi tanár, az Állat- tenyésztési Kutatóintézet akkori (fő)igazgatója vezetésé­ vel készített kandidátusi értekezését. 1989-ben az MTA doktora címet szerezte meg. Az MTA 2001-ben válasz­ totta levelező tagjává. Oktatói tevékenységét 1960-ban kezdte a mosonmagyaróvári Mezőgazda- sági Akadémián, és azóta is ott folytatja oktatói és kutatói munkásságát. 1979- ben egyetemi tanárrá nevezték ki, kilenc éven keresztül a mosonmagyaróvári Mezőgazdaság-tudományi Kar dékánja volt, hat éven át az egyetem tudomá­ nyos rektor-helyettese, a Takarmányozási Tanszéket mintegy 15 évig vezette. Kutatómunkája a kérődzők energia-, fehérje- és aminosav-ellátásának, a takarmányok konzerválásának, valamint a melléktermékek takarmányozási célú hasznosításának kérdései köré koncentrálódott. A szarvasmarhák energia- és fehérjeellátásának kérdésében hazánkban az elsők között foglalkozott a ben- dőben csak kismértékben lebomló (bypass) zsír, fehérje, illetve aminosav ké­ szítmények takarmányozási szerepével, hatásmechanizmusuk tisztázásával, ilyen készítmények kifejlesztésével. Tagja volt annak a munkacsoportnak, amely 1983-1986 között működve, végül javaslatot dolgozott ki a keményítőérték helyett egy korszerű nettóenergia rendszer bevezetésére a hazai szarvasmarha-takarmányozásban. A parciális nettóenergia (NEm, NEg, NE,) használatán alapuló rendszert, 1986 óta, jó ered­ ménnyel alkalmazza mind a hazai kutatás, mind a gyakorlat. Vezetőként irányította azt a kutatócsoportot, mely kidolgozta az új hazai fe­ hérjeértékelési rendszert (Metabolizálható fehérje rendszer), ami 1999-ben került bevezetésre a kérődző állatok takarmányozásában. Az új rendszer új alapokra helyezte a kérődzők fehérje- és aminosav-ellátását. Aktív részvételével indult be hazánkban a zöldtakarmányok konzerválásá­ hoz használt biológiai tartósítószerek előállítását célzó kutató-fejlesztő munka. A növényolaj-ipar melléktermékének, az ún. szűrési maradéknak a felhasz­ nálására dolgoztak ki, munkatársaival együtt, egy olyan technológiát, ami ennek a korábban környezetszennyező anyagnak energia-kiegészítőként való hasz­ nosítását teszi lehetővé. Kutatómunkájának eredményeit közel kétszáz publikációban adta közre, amelynek nagy része tudományos folyóiratban jelent meg. Külföldi, illetve hazai tudományos konferencián megtartott és teljes terjedelemben megjelent számos előadása, valamint 10 könyv, illetve könyvrészlet fémjelzi szerteágazó tudomá­ nyos tevékenységét. Publikációi közül mintegy 70 idegen nyelven látott napvilá­ got. Könyvei, egy évtizede az egyetemi oktatás, valamint a tudományos to­ vábbképzés alapvető ismeretanyagát jelentik. 520 ÁLLATTENYÉSZTÉS ÉS TAKARMÁNYOZÁS, 2005. 54. 6. Tudományos közéleti tevékenysége összhangban szakmai teljesítményei­ vel, ugyancsak kimagasló. Elnöke az MTA Állatnemesítési, Állattenyésztési és Takarmányozási Bizottságának, valamint a VEAB Agrártudományi Szakbizott­ ságának. Az EAAP (European Assotiation fór Animál Production) Takarmányo­ zási Szekciójának hazai tagja. Tagja az OTKA Élőtudományi Szakkollégiumá­ nak, a MAB Agrártudományi Szakbizottságának, a Géntechnológiai Bizottság­ nak és az Országos Állatvédelmi Tanácsnak. Tagja több tudományos és szak­ mai lap szerkesztő bizottságának. Kimagasló és fáradhatatlan tudományos tevékenységének elismeréseként több kitüntetésben részesült: Újhelyi-Emlékérem (1982), Wilhelm Kirchner-dij (1983, Németország), Gábor Dénes-díj (1998), MTA Arany János Közalapít­ vány a Tudományért Darányi Ignác díj (1998). Schmidt János a magyar takarmányozás kiemelkedően elismert tudósa, méltó követője a tudományág korábban élt nagyjainak, többek között Tangl Ferencnek és Haraldnak, Csukás Zoltánnak, Urbányi Józsefnek, Baintner Kár- o/ynak. Lapunk olvasói és a magyar takarmányosok nagy tábora nevében ez úton is kívánunk Schmidt János akadémikusnak, lapunk tudományos tanácsadó testülete tagjának, hosszú, boldog, még további eredményekben gazdag, egészségben eltöltött éveket. Gundel János ÁLLATTENYÉSZTÉS ÉS TAKARMÁNYOZÁS, 2005. 54. 6. 521-527. 521 ÖSSZEFÜGGÉS EGYES MIKROSZATELLIT MARKEREK ÉS A MAGYAR MERINÓ SÚLYGYARAPODÁSA KÖZÖTT* KOMLÓSI ISTVÁN — ANTON ISTVÁN — FÉSŰS LÁSZLÓ ÖSSZEFOGLALÁS A szerzők kettőszáznyolcvan üzemi sajátteljesítmény-vizsgálatba vett (ÜSTV) magyar merinó növendékjuh genotípusát határozták meg 9 mikroszatellit lókuszra (ETH3, INRA603, ETH225, SPS115, CSRD0247, HSC, OarE129, MAF214, OarCP49), összefüggést keresve az egyes allélok és az átlagos napi súlygyarapodás között. Az állományban előforduló allélokat és az egyedek geno­ típusát ABI 310 Genetic Analyzer és Genotyper készülék segítségével határozták meg. Az egyes allélok hatását GLM eljárással elemezték, melyben az ivar, születési típus és a genotípus fix, az apa pedig random hatásként szerepelt. A súlygyarapodásra a CSRD0247 lókusz közelében nagy­ hatású gén valószínűsíthető. A HSC lókuszon is szignifikáns különbség volt tapasztalható az egyes allélok között. A többi mikroszatellit esetében nem volt kimutatható a súlygyarapodást befolyásoló alléi állomány szinten. C'est une vache de taille moyenne, à la robe fauve avec les muqueuses, le toupet de la queue, le bout des cornes en lyre et le contour des oreilles noirs. Autrefois utilisée pour le travail, le lait et la viande. Aujourd'hui, c'est une race allaitante destinée à produire de la viande. On l'apprécie notamment pour sa rusticité et ses qualités maternelles, qui lui permettent d'élever facilement ses veaux. Elle est souvent croisée avec des taureaux charolais pour améliorer la conformation de ses produits. L'aubrac était autrefois associée aux burons, dans lesquels on transformait son lait en fromage durant l'estive. Cette pratique a disparu aujourd'hui, et à de très rares exceptions près, le fromage de Laguiole est fabriqué non plus avec du lait d'Aubrac mais avec celui de vaches simmentals, plus productives. Certains éleveurs cherchent tout de même à développer une souche laitière. Histoire Origine Cette race fait partie, pour certains auteurs, du rameau brun, un vaste rameau comprenant notamment la Brune des Alpes, la Tarentaise, la Gasconne ou encore la Mirandaise. Elle pourrait être plus précisément apparentée à la gasconne. Au sein de ce rameau brun, on la rattache souvent à la « branche fauve », et non à la branche alpine.

NUMBER 45. with lamb carcases and it is hoped that at least one processor could have one operating in their abattoir for cattle by the end of the year. What this should mean for the producer is that they will JULY 2017 finally be paid for producing meat rather than bone and fat. Many producers I have spoken to over the years are only interested in producing big cattle regardless of how much bone they may have. We at CLMS have been advocating payment to producers on a basis of saleable meat yield since day one.

Elle a permis de fêter ce printemps les 20 ans des Tersons Aubrac de Pierrefort et du Festival des bœufs gras de Laguiole. Elle permettra, lors des transhumances, de célébrer la 20e année d’existence du Label Rouge « Bœuf Fermier Aubrac - Race Aubrac », magnifique démonstration de production (rémunératrice !) de viande de qualité respectueuse de la nature et de l’environnement. Elle correspond aussi au 40e anniversaire de la création de l’Union Aubrac, fondée le 16 octobre 1979 avec Henri Melac comme Président à l’époque, pour relancer le Livre Généalogique de la race bovine Aubrac dans le cadre de la Loi sur l’Elevage de décembre 1966. Que de chemin parcouru depuis ! Parfois semé d’embûches et creusé d’ornières que les Présidents successifs et les sélectionneurs ont su patiemment contourner et éviter, en ne se reniant jamais sur l’orientation raciale très tôt définie et souvent confirmée depuis : une race allaitante rustique (et non pas une race à viande spécialisée), aux qualités maternelles et d’élevage affirmées, dotée de robustesse et de longévité. Les caractéristiques, singularités et particularités de la race Aubrac ont toujours été revendiquées vis-à-vis des instances nationales (INRA, Ministère, Institut de l’Elevage, ES, etc.), permettant de conserver au maximum l’identité de la race et la préservant d’une uniformisation contagieuse.

The biotechnological characteristic of the analyzed animal breeds shows that animals of the extensive Salers and Aubrac breeds have the best adaptive qualities for the conditions of Northern Trans-Urals by the complex of biological and technological parameters; the list is ended by the stud Limousine and Charolais breeds. The results obtained over the 15-year period of breeding specialized beef cattle in the Tyumen region show improved basic productive indicators of animals of all imported species. The annual growth of the livestock is 10-12%, heifers’ insemination age decreases to 19 months, the commercial yield of calves reaches 87%, the milk consumption for bulls is 237 kg, and for heifers - 218 kg. Overall assessment by the set of productive traits shows that over 90% of animals fully meet the requirements of the standard.
