Welcome To Our Meeting!

We are pleased to have you join us at our Board meeting. Your presence and participation is appreciated and encouraged. We best represent you, our residents, when we learn your questions, suggestions, issues of interest, and opinions.

The Board invites public comment at the beginning of each meeting in an Open Forum. We may follow up on your comments with you during the week, discuss the matter a bit later in the meeting, or just listen carefully and value your input. In addition, public discussion takes place with each agenda item. Please note that responses concerning personnel issues should not be made in public.

If you have prepared your remarks, please share a copy with the school’s District Clerk to include with the meeting minutes.

We ask that each speaker state your name and address for the record, and limit your remarks to the permitted time (2 minutes, no more than 3 minutes). Time check will be made by the District Clerk.

If you have any questions or comments about Board agenda items please email the Board at – [email protected] by 12:00 pm on the day prior (usually Sunday) to the day of the meeting.

Meeting Schedule:

Our regular board meetings and Board Workshops are usually held on Mondays at 7:30 P.M., every other week. Check the District Website – www.blindbrook.org for dates and agenda topics. Board business is always conducted in public. The meetings are held in the Monroe E. Haas I.M.C., unless otherwise announced in advance by email, on the local news, educational access channels, and the District’s Website

Acceptance – Resignation for Purposes of Retirement – Roberta Bass – Recommended Motion: The Board of Education hereby accepts the resignation of Roberta Bass for the purposes of retirement effective June 30, 2016 as School Psychologist in the Bruno M. Ponterio Ridge Street Elementary School.

Approval – Alyssa Picinich – Student Intern - Recommended Motion: The Board of Education hereby approves the request of Alyssa Picinich, an Iona College Student Intern to perform 75 student internship hours at the Blind Brook Middle School effective October 20, 2015.

3. Appointment – P/T Teacher Aide at PRSS 2015-2016 – Rosemary Edmonds – Recommended Motion: The Board of Education hereby appoints Rosemary Edmonds as a Part-Time PPS Teacher Aide at the Bruno M. Ponterio Ridge Street Elementary School effective October 20, 2015 and ending June 30, 2016 at a salary of Step 5 $17.71 per hour not to exceed 19 ½ hrs. per week.

4. Appointment – P/T Teacher Aide at PRSS 2015-2016 – Catherine Labrada – Recommended Motion: The Board of Education hereby appoints Catherine Labrada as a Part-Time PPS Teacher Aide at the Bruno M. Ponterio Ridge Street Elementary School effective October 20, 2015 and ending June 30, 2016 at a salary of Step 5 $17.71 per hour not to exceed 19 ½ hrs. per week.

5. Approval – Extension of Substitute Teaching Assistant – John Cipollino – Recommended Motion: The Board of Education hereby approves the extension of John Cipollino’s Appointment as a Substitute Teaching Assistant from October 31, 2015 to November 30, 2015 at a salary of MA Step 1 $39,248 – pro-rated to $196.24 per diem in 2015-2016.

6. Appointment – Substitute Teacher –BBMS/BBHS – Recommended Motion: The Board of Education hereby appoints John Frolich to be a substitute teacher during the 2015-2016 school year at the Blind Brook Middle School & Blind Brook High School.

C. Educational Resolutions 1. Approval of CSE Recommendations – Recommended Motion: The Board of Education hereby approves the following Special Education Committee recommendations submitted for review as of October 13, 2015. Case numbers: 112200710, 112200709, 112200079, and 51911.

2. Approval – Day Trips 11/14/15 & 4/2/16 – InControl Driving Crash Prevention Training – Recommended Motion: The Board of Education hereby approves of the Day trips on November 14, 2015 and April 2, 2016 for InControl Driving Crash Prevention Training.

3. Approval – Supplemental Audit Billing – O’Connor Davies – Recommended Motion: The Board of Education hereby approves of a one-time only supplemental audit billing to O’Connor Davies, LLP, 500 Mamaroneck Avenue, Suite 301, Harrison, NY 10528 in the amount of $2,500.

4. Revision of Standard Work Day & Reporting for 2015-2016 - Recommended Motion: The Board of Education hereby establishes the following as the standard work day for all appointed officials and will report the following days worked to the New York State and Local Employees’ Retirement System based on the record of activities maintained and submitted by these officials to the clerk of this body:

Acceptance of Independent Audit Report, Financial Statements, & Management Letter for the Year Ending 6-30-15 – Recommended Motion: The Board of Education, in accordance with section 170.2 subsection (r), of the Regulations of the Commissioner of Education of the State of New York, hereby certifies that it has received and accepts the independent audit report, financial statements, and management letter for the school year ending June 30, 3015 and dated September 2, 2015 from O’Connor Davies LLP pursuant to the unanimous recommendation of the District’s Audit Committee.

11. Approval & Ratification of the Memorandum of Agreement Between the Board of Education and the Association of Blind Brook Administrators - Recommended Motion: The Board of Education hereby approves and ratifies the Memorandum of Agreement between the Board and the Association of Blind Brook Administrators, in complete and final settlement of all issues proposed and negotiated for a July 1, 2015 – June 30, 2018 successor collective bargaining agreement to the parties’ July 1, 2012 – June 30, 2015 collective bargaining agreement.

12. Authorization to Enter Into Agreement for Student # 100110 with a Disability – Recommended Motion: The Board of Education hereby authorizes its attorneys, Girvin & Ferlazzo, P.C. to accept a counter offer reviewed by the Board in executive session, held on October 19, 2015, and prepare for signature a stipulation of settlement to resolve all pending claims involving student # 100110 and the terms agreed to.
