We are pleased to have you join us at our Board meeting. Your presence and participation is appreciated and encouraged. We best represent you, our residents, when we learn your questions, suggestions, issues of interest, and opinions. The Board invites public comment at the beginning of each meeting in an Open Forum. We may follow up on your comments with you during the week, discuss the matter a bit later in the meeting, or just listen carefully and value your input. In addition, public discussion takes place with each agenda item. Please note that responses concerning personnel issues should not be made in public. If you have prepared your remarks, please share a copy with the school’s District Clerk to include with the meeting minutes. We ask that each speaker state your name and address for the record, and limit your remarks to the permitted time (2 minutes, no more than 3 minutes). Time check will be made by the District Clerk. If you have any questions or comments about Board agenda items please email the Board at – [email protected] by 12:00 pm on the day prior (usually Sunday) to the day of the meeting. Meeting Schedule: Our regular board meetings and Board Workshops are usually held on Mondays at 7:30 P.M. Check the District Website – www.blindbrook.org for dates and agenda topics. Board business is always conducted in public. The meetings are held in the Monroe E. Haas I.M.C., unless otherwise announced in advance by email, on the local news, educational access channels, and the District’s Website. Certified Personnel Resolutions 1. Amendment – Teacher Mentor – 2016-2017 – Recommended Motion: The Board of Education hereby amends the appointment of the following individuals as Mentor for the 2016-2017 school year: MENTOR MENTEE STIPEND Keri Fischer Christina Mangiaracina (ending 12/23/16) $480 Rachel Samilow Elizabeth Ferrucci (ending 1/23/17) $600 2. Appointment – .6 Leave Replacement – BBHS Math Teacher – Lester Roby – BE IT RESOLVED, that the Board of Education of the Blind Brook-Rye Union Free School District hereby accepts the recommendation of the Superintendent to appoint Lester Roby to a .6 leave replacement Math Teacher at Blind Brook High School commencing December 12, 2016 and ending May 8, 2017 at MA30 Step 3, $79,435.00, pro-rated to $23,830.53. 3. Approval – .2 Special Education Teacher & .8 Teaching Assistant – Barbara Bigler – Recommended Motion: The Board of Education hereby appoints Barbara Bigler as a .2 Special Education Teacher effective November 14, 2016 and ending June 30, 2017 at MA Step 1, $65,601.00, pro-rated to $9,941.37 in 2016-2017 and as a .8 Teaching Assistant effective November 14, 2016 and ending June 30, 2017 at MA Step 6, $42,823.00, pro-rated to $25,599.04 in 2016-2017. 4. Approval – Extension of Short-term Per Diem Leave Replacement – BMPRSS Teacher – Christina Mangiaracina – BE IT RESOLVED, that the Board of Education of the Blind Brook-Rye Union Free School District hereby approves the extension of the appointment of Christina Mangiaracina as a Short-term Per Diem Leave Replacement Teacher commencing November 7, 2016 and ending December 23, 2016 at a per diem rate of $328.00. B. Other Personnel Resolutions 1. Acceptance – Resignation for Purposes of Retirement – David Centofanti – School Monitor – Recommended Motion: The Board of Education hereby accepts the resignation of David Centofanti, a School Monitor at Blind Brook High School for the purposes of Retirement, effective November 29, 2016. 3. Acceptance – Resignation – Lajada Smith – Part-Time Pupil Services Teacher’s Aide – Recommended Motion: The Board of Education hereby accepts the resignation of Lajada Smith, a Part-Time Pupil Services Teacher’s Aide, effective November 4, 2016. 4. Case numbers: 112200895, 112200893, 100070, 082810005, 100417, 100182, and 112200833. D. Business Resolutions 1. Approval – Minutes – BOE Board Workshop – October 17, 2016 – Recommended Motion: The Board of Education hereby approves the Minutes of the Board Workshop – October 17, 2016. 2. Approval – Minutes – Executive Session BOE Meeting – October 17, 2016 – Recommended Motion: The Board of Education hereby approves the Minutes of the Executive Session Board meeting – October 17, 2016. 3. Adoption – Treasurer’s Report – Month of September 2016 – Recommended Motion: The Board of Education hereby adopts the Treasurer’s Report for the Month of September 2016. 4. Acceptance – Donation – MakerBot Replicator 2 3D Printer – JAT Capital Partners, LP – Recommended Motion: The Board of Education gratefully accepts the generous donation of a MakerBot Replicator 2 3D printer from JAT Capital Partners, LP, 1 Fawcett Place, Greenwich, CT 06830. 5. Approval – Continuation of Membership to NYSSBA – 2016-2017 – Recommended Motion: The Board of Education hereby approves the continuation of membership to the New York State School Boards Association for the 2016-2017 school year at an annual cost of $9,202.00. Approval – County Coach – Coach Transportation for the Ski Team – Recommended Motion: The Board of Education hereby approves County Coach, 287 Bowman Avenue, #3, Purchase, NY 10577 to provide transportation for up to 7 trips for the ski team at a cost of $675.00 each, not to exceed $4,725.00 in 2016-2017. 8. Acceptance – Proposal – The Landtek Group to Repair Damage to BBMS/HS Track – Recommended Motion: The Board of Education hereby accepts the Proposal from The Landtek Group, 235 County Line Road, Amityville, NY 11701 to repair damage to the BBMS/HS Track in the amount of $12,300.00.
