College Board’s AP® Computer Science Female Diversity Award College Board’s AP Computer Science Female Diversity Award recognizes schools that are closing the gender gap and engaging more female students in computer science coursework in AP Computer Science Principles (AP CSP) and AP Computer Science A (AP CSA). Specifically, College Board is honoring schools who reached 50% or higher female representation in either of the two AP computer science courses in 2018, or whose percentage of the female examinees met or exceeded that of the school's female population in 2018. Out of more than 18,000 secondary schools worldwide that offer AP courses, only 685 have achieved this important result. • Regional School-Aged Children BMI Profiles 2012-2013 and 2013-2014 School Years
Westchester County Department of Health Community Health Assessment Data Update 2015.08 Regional School-Aged Children BMI Profiles 2012-2013 and 2013-2014 School Years In this issue: • Number and Percent of School Aged Children who are overweight, obese, and overweight/obese by grade Project Directors: Jiali Li, Ph.D. Director of Research & Evaluation Planning & Evaluation Renee Recchia, MPH, Acting Deputy Commissioner of Administration Project Staff: Megan Cea, MPH, Medical Data Analyst Stan Cho, MPH, Medical Data Analyst Milagros Venuti, MPA, Assistant Statistician Graphic Design: Megan Cea, MPH Robert P. Astorino, Westchester County Executive Sherlita Amler, MD, Commissioner of Health Foreword The Westchester County Department of Health (WCDH) plays a leading role in promoting health, preventing disease, and prolonging meaningful life for Westchester County residents. WCDH monitors and controls the spread of communicable diseases, monitors and regulates air and water quality, enforces the state and local sanitary code, promotes local public health activities, and assures the availability of community health services. To comply with New York State Public Health Law, WCDH completed a Community Health Assessment (CHA) 2013-2017 in 2013 to describe the health status of Westchester County residents, identify existing gaps and health care barriers, assess the availability and accessibility of health care services, and specify public health priorities in the County. This document is intended to supplement the 2013-2017 CHA with updated regional school BMI information. In order to monitor overweight and obesity status and support the statewide efforts to reverse the childhood obesity epidemic, the New York State Student Weight Status Category Reporting System (SWSCR) was established to collect weight status category data (underweight, healthy weight, overweight or obese, based on BMI-for-age percentile) on children and adolescents attending public school in New York State, outside New York City.

Benefit Early Steps Celebration 30th Anniversary Thursday, May 18, 2017 The University Club New York, NY Early Steps 540 East 76th Street • New York, NY 10021 www.earlysteps.org • 212.288.9684 Horace Mann School and all of our Early Steps students and families, past and present, join in celebrating Early Steps’ 30 Years as A Voice for Diversity in NYC Independent Schools Letter from our Director Dear Friends, For nearly three decades, it has been my joy and re- sponsibility to guide the parents of children of color through the process of applying to New York City in- dependent schools for kindergarten and first grade, helping them to realize their hopes and dreams for their children. While over 3,500 students of color entered school with the guidance of Early Steps, it is humbling to know that the impact has been so much greater. We hear time and © 2012 Victoria Jackson Photography again how families, schools and lives have been trans- formed as a result of the doors of opportunity that were opened with the help of Early Steps. Doors where academic excellence is the norm and children learn and play with others whose life’s experiences are not the same as theirs, benefitting all children. We are proud of our 30-year partnership with now over 50 New York City independent schools who nurture, educate and challenge our children to be the best that they can be. They couldn’t be in better hands! Tonight we honor four Early Steps alumni. These accomplished young adults all benefited from the wisdom of their parents who knew the importance of providing their children with the best possible education beginning in Kindergarten.
