The Winter Universiade is the second-largest winter multisport event in the world, surpassed only by the Winter Olympics. In 2021 this unique major event will be held in the heart of Switzerland.

“Excellence in Mind and Body” is the motto of the International University Sports Federation FISU, neatly summarising the perfect combination of top-class sport and education by the Winter Universiade athletes. Students from over 540 universities and colleges and more than 50 will be travelling to Central Switzerland for the Winter Universiade.

Education is a key aspect of the Winter Universiade programme: a scientific conference will be held during the event, and students from Switzerland will be actively involved in the event organisation. Their participation in this major project will provide them with opportunities for personal development and experience for their later careers.

Winter sports have a long tradition in Switzerland. As early as 1900, daring pioneers from all over Europe met in Central Switzerland to ski. The tradition is alive today: Central Switzerland offers attractive and well-developed winter sports facilities.
