With these demands and ever- increasing numbers of students attracting the label of autism, teachers and schools are under new kinds of pressure. A New View of Autism takes you on an inspirational journey to change your mind about the problem of autism in schools. Through story, the workshop will help you recall some of the deeper reasons you went into teaching and will acquaint you with insights from a number of autistic people and their supporters. Through this work together, we will encounter neurodiversity—a new view of autism—and its five game- changing principles of practice and design you need to know. Ultimately, our goal is to give you the tools you need to think about autism differently, open access to learning for autistic/ neurodivergent students, supporters and peers, and to enjoy yourself along the way!
