POSTGRADUATE CERTIFICATE IN HEALTH SCIENCE (AVAILABLE ONLINE) ONLINE PATHWAY The Postgraduate Certificate in Health Science is characterised by OPTION advanced study in a specific nursing or health science discipline. The programme supports students to develop the knowledge and skills of critical analysis, constructive synthesis and their application to high quality approaches to health care delivery.

POSTGRADUATE DIPLOMA IN HEALTH SCIENCE The Postgraduate Diploma in Health Science is a 120 credit (one year full-time), interdisciplinary programme that provides the opportunity for qualified health professionals and health service managers to develop advanced practice knowledge and critical analysis skills.

Applied Nutrition This course aims to develop students’ knowledge and skills in providing advice on and support for nutrition and lifestyle approaches based on contemporary practice and evidence. 30 Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to critically analyse Credits concepts and determinants of nutrition related to health. Students will also gain skills in critically evaluating evidence in the field of nutrition research for practical application, and that related to the efficacy of nutrition-related behaviour-change approaches.

Global Health This course aims to provide students with a comprehensive and critical overview of the global burden of chronic non-communicable diseases in an interdisciplinary health context. 30 Upon successful completion of this course, students will have gained knowledge and skills Credits in the critical interpretation of global concepts related to the burdens of non-communicable disease, including epidemiology, social implications and healthcare services management in an interdisciplinary healthcare context.

Health Promotion This course aims to guide students in developing and extending knowledge and skills related to health promotion by critically examining relevant issues in a global context. Upon 30 successful completion of this course, students will be able to research and critically appraise Credits literature relevant to the discipline of health promotion. Students will also gain skills in applying evidence-based knowledge to the development of health promotion initiatives and in critically evaluating factors that impact on health promotion programmes.

MASTER OF HEALTH SCIENCE

The Master of Health Science programme provides the opportunity for health practitioners and health managers to advance and expand their knowledge and expertise within an interdisciplinary learning environment. The study pathway for this programme is to select two courses from the Level 8 course list, including Applied Research Methods (PGRM8.100) and one other 15 credit course, followed by the two Level 9 courses below: PGISP9.400 Independent Scholarly Project (30 credits) PGAC9.300 Applied Capstone (15 credits) Other Level 9 courses may be available, depending on grades achieved at Level 8.
