1. Home Sweet Home

Type of Item: Quilt Submitted by: Judy Allen 54 x 68” Description This was a fun wall quilt. I loved doing buttonhole stitch around all the wool applique and embellished the blue bird nest, giving her eggs to sit on! I love long-arm machine quilting. The stitching is custom designed to maximize the artistic concept, making your eye to find fun in each block. The soft browns and blues with touches of purple really make it a fun quilt.

4. Sweet Dreams

Type of Item: Quilt Submitted by: Judy Allen 75 x 92” Description This was a fun quilt to make. Each block is a different gape, providing space for pieced blocks. The applique is all wool on cotton blocks with a lightweight fusing. I did buttonhole stitches with embroidery thread. I used a cotton batting and cotton fabric on the back which I pieced in a block to bring the colors from the front to the back. It was quilted on a long-arm machine. I put this quilt on our four-poster guest bed in autumn.

Materials: 100% wool fabric, 100% cotton for blocks, batting, back, DMC

Owner: Judy Allen Is the Quilt for Sale? No ......

2 5. Homeplace 1892

Type of Item: Hooked Rug Submitted by: Judy Allen 52 x 31" Description This rug I hooked from a picture of the antique rug auctioned in 2019, for $1000 to $1500. I hooked overdye wool to achieve the vintage look, on a linen backing and between size 4 and 7 cut. I finished it with a self facing and piping. This is my personal favorite rug and I tried to use my watercolor paintings as a guide. I did use a small amount of antique paisley in the center of the flowers.

Materials: 100% overdyed wool, tiny antique paisley, linen backing

8. Little Wooly Baskets

Type of Item: Quilt Submitted by: Mona Stevenson 33 x 33" Description The border blocks were free patterns from Dawn Heese's blog last year. I learned wool applique in one of her workshops. It#s so easy and relaxing I brightened her color choices, then decided it needed to be bigger to fit a spot on the guest room wall. So I designed the center block from her flowers, using my own basket design. I found the embroidered saying in an Australian quilt magazine I jazzed it all up with some beading and a scalloped border.
