Detailed Itinerary

PLEASE NOTE: THE TRIP WILL EITHER MEET AT THE ROME FIUMICINO AIRPORT AT 22:30 (10:30 PM) OR AT THE NAPLES AIRPORT AT 22:00 (10:00 PM) ON THURSDAY EVENING. PLEASE MAKE SURE YOUR FLIGHT ARRIVES PRIOR TO THIS TIME. Plan your return flight to leave anytime after 19:00 from either Rome or Milan airport on the following Saturday.

Day 1 - Thursday

Plan to arrive into either FCO or Naples Thursday evening after 10pm. After checking in with your tour leader, we will be departing and we will head to Sorrento. We will check in upon our arrival later that night.

Day 2 - Friday

Fr iday morning, we depart for the port early where we board a private ferry and set sail for the island of Capri. Upon arrival, we begin our private island tour. First stop is the Blue Grotto, where you will be transferred directly from our boat into small row boats that will bring you into the grotto (weather permitting).

After the boat tour is finished, our trip leader will then walk us up to Capri Town. Our private transport will then bring us further up to , the highest part of the island, where we will be welcomed with free chocolate and limoncello. You will have the remainder of the afternoon free. We suggest riding the chairlift to the top of Mt. Solaro to get a breathtaking 360 degree view of the island, grabbing a unique pair of custom made sandals, and having a scrumptious lunch at Bus2alps’ favorite place in Anacapri, Le Arcate.

You also have the option of checking out the rest of the island or hanging out on the beach down by Marina Grande. The ferry departs from Marina Grande later on that afternoon.

Friday night we help organize dinners in Sorrento city center at excellent restaurants with an extensive menus of local specialties at great prices. If you do not wish to join the group for dinner there are plenty of other great options to explore in the area. Afterwards we can head down to the English Inn, an outdoor beer garden with drinks specials for Bus2alps members.

Day 3 - Saturday

Saturday morning, climb aboard our private boat with an included lunch as you cruise down the coast to reach the famous black-sand beach of Positano! Spend the afternoon working on your tan or floating in the clear ! Once in Positano, your Bus2alps trip leader will point out Vini e Panini for sandwiches, snacks, and drinks, in addition to other good places to eat.

You will then have the day to relax on the beach, swim in the sparkling blue waters, and browse the many shops of Positano, known for ceramics and lace! Depending on the season, it is also possible to rent a boat, kayaks, or stand-up paddle boards while there. From Positano you can venture further along the coast to the town of Amalfi. Our private boat will depart Positano later in the afternoon and take you directly back to our accommodation.

Saturday night you have free to yourself to either kick back at one of the scenic viewpoints at your accommodation or head into Sorrento.

Day 4 - Sunday

Sunday morning, we depart for Pompeii. Bus2alps has an optional 1.5-hour guided tour of the ruins. The guides do an amazing job of painting an excellent picture of life in Pompeii during the Roman era in a fun and relatable way. The guided tour is highly recommended. You can also enter without a guide and see the ruins on your own. There will also be enough time for lunch. We suggest eating at our favorite spot, Pompeii Pizza, for a delicious brick oven cooked pizza at a great price.

By early afternoon, we will depart Pompeii for Rome. After check-in at our accommodation, you will have some time to relax and unwind before our optional Welcome to Rome dinner, located in the popular area of Trastevere. Afterwards we will explore Trastevere and Campo de Fiori, two of Rome’s most popular areas for nightlife.

Day 5 - Monday

After breakfast, become better acquainted with the Imperial city on a walking tour of the Roman Forum, Circus Maximus, and Colosseum (entrance to the Colosseum will be an optional cost.).

Consult your Bus2alps trip leader for suggestions as to where to go and how to see it. Other sights in Rome include: The Pantheon, Spanish Steps, Trevi Fountain, Villa Borghese, Piazza Navona, and the Colosseum.

That night you are free to explore the culinary treats Rome has to offer. Ask your Bus2alps Trip Leader for the best recommendations for food and nightlife depending on your taste!

Day 6 - Tuesday

Tuesday, In the afternoon, we head on an optional excursion to the expansive Vatican City where you can see the timeless Sistine Chapel among other works in the Vatican's massive collection. In

the evening, we will walk to Pincio Hill, which overlooks all of Rome. From there we will walk to the Spanish steps and stop to make a wish at the Trevi Fountain.

Consult your Bus2alps trip leader for suggestions as to where to go and how to see it. Other sights in Rome include: The Pantheon, Spanish Steps, Trevi Fountain, Villa Borghese, Piazza Navona, and the Colosseum.

That night you are free to explore the culinary treats Rome has to offer. Ask your Bus2alps Trip Leader for the best recommendations for food and nightlife depending on your taste!

Day 7 - Wednesday

Wednesday morning is yours to do any shopping or see any sights you haven't seen yet - the day is yours to explore the stunning park of the Villa Borghese where you can overlook all of the city, or wander the winding streets to find the Spanish Steps & the Pantheon. In the afternoon, we depart Rome to head to the gem of Tuscany: Florence.

If checked in on time, your trip leader will lead you to Piazzale Michelangelo for sunset, which offers the best view of the city.

That night there will be an included Tuscan- style aperitivo at our favorite spot in the city.

Day 8- Thursday

In the morning your trip leader will give you a walking tour of Florence. We will see the Duomo, the historic Ponte Vecchio, the Uffizi Gallery, Piazza Signoria, and more!

After the walking tour, take your time to get acquainted with the city further -- check out Florence’s great museums and galleries, like the Uffizi, Bargello, Accademia (home of the David), Pitti Palace, Boboli Gardens, and more.

Day 9- Friday

You will have all day free to explore more of Florence’s endless beauty OR consult your trip leader for recommendations and how to visit the medieval city of Siena, wine taste in San Gimignano, push over the Leaning Tower of Pisa, or other beautiful cities in the region. Refer to your trip leader for other recommendations such as or take a day trip to Lucca, Verona or Venice.

Day 10- Saturday

Saturday morning is departure time back to your study city. We recommend looking at booking flights flying out of either Rome or Milan.

Your Bus2alps tour leader will be available to help you with bookings taxis or other transportation to get to airports in a timely manner.

Included Activities

Walking Tours: The Roman Forum and historical centers of Florence and Rome are easily accessible on foot. Your walking tour will cover all major sites in these locations.

Capri Ferry and Island Tour: We take a ferry to the island of Capri. Once we arrive to Capri, our private boats take us on tour around the island, stopping at the Blue Grotto (€14), and other sites, including Marina Grande, Faraglione, White Grotto and Green Grotto.

Limoncello Tasting & Sandal Shop: There are two shops in Anacapri that produce amazing custom sandals and make their own Limoncello and lemon chocolates. Custom sandals start at 40€.

Positano Boat: Our private boat transports you to Positano, a beautiful day winding along the coast.

Pompeii Transport: Pompeii is the most preserved ancient Roman civilization. You will be transported there by our private bus.

Optional Activities Tours, Museums, Day Trip: I taly is known for its Renaissance Art, Ancient History, and amazing sights. Consult your trip leader or informational guide for information on how to join any optional tours and day trips. Museum, gallery, and day trip prices vary. Blue Grotto: E ntrance into the site includes row boat ride into one of the Seven Natural Wonders of Europe to experience the fluorescent cave. (14 EUR) Positano Water Activities: It is possible to rent a boat, go sea kayaking, rent stand-up paddle boards, purchase floaties, and more while on Positano's beaches. Availability based on the season & weather. Mt. Solaro: F rom Anacapri you can take a chairlift to the top of the island for the best views of the Bay of Naples and Mt. Vesuvius. (11 EUR)
