Goal: To get involved in environmental projects, experience Costa Rican culture, and gain perspective on the global landscape.

May18/ Sat: Arrival Meet ISL staff at the Juan Santamaría airport; settle into Casa de la Espiritualidad La Purísima in . ​ ​ ​ This retreat house is located just 5 minutes from the Juan Santamaria International Airport and a few minutes walking from Alajuela downtown where you will find lots of things to do and see, from museums, churches, stores, ice cream parlors, to a wide variety of restaurants to choose from. This retreat house has rooms with 2 beds each and its private bathroom. Hot water, internet access and beautiful and peaceful gardens are some of the benefits volunteers can find here. The team’s first day will be busy settling in and will have a country orientation, followed by a truly unique cultural experience - local dance lessons! Evening: Discuss tomorrow’s agenda. ​ Dinner paid by volunteers.

May 19/ Sun: Travel to Osa-Turtle and Mangrove Project ​ The project Osa In-Water is located in Playa Blanca, close to Puerto Jiménez on the Osa Peninsula in the southern Pacific province of , Costa Rica.The Osa Peninsula, called the most biologically intense place on Earth ​ by National Geographic, lives up to its status as Costa Rica’s natural treasure. Tour the basic facilitates, learn about the project and help protect this unique corner of the globe! Be a true conservation hero by helping to “tag” turtles, run the sea turtle hatchery, get involved in the mangrove project and work on beach clean-up. Settle in cabins and get trained for the activities volunteers will get involved. Evening: Group Reflection; discuss tomorrow’s agenda. ​ Breakfast and dinner provided by ISL; lunch paid by volunteers.

May 20/ Mon: Mangrove Project ​ Get involved in the mangrove project. You’ll participate in actual reforestation efforts. This includes learning the theory of reforestation and succession, as well as helping with tree transportation, transplantation, and maintenance. Evening: Group Reflection; discuss tomorrow’s agenda. ​ Breakfast, lunch & dinner provided by ISL.

May 21/ Tue: Turtle Project ​ Help tag turtles in the ocean. Evening: Group Reflection; discuss tomorrow’s agenda. ​ Breakfast, lunch & dinner provided by ISL.

May 22/ Wed: Beach Clean-up ​ Continue your work at the Osa Peninsula by helping in the beach clean–up efforts. Evening: Group Reflection; discuss tomorrow’s agenda. ​ Breakfast, lunch & dinner provided by ISL.

May 23/ Thurs: Recreation Day. Manuel Antonio National Park http://manuelantoniopark.com/ ​ ​ Head to Manuel Antonio National Park. Enjoy wildlife viewing inside the park as well as hiking throughout the many trails in this protected area. Take some time on the beach for relaxing or swimming. Return to Alajuela City. Evening: Discuss tomorrow’s agenda. ​ Breakfast provided by ISL. Lunch & dinner paid by volunteers.

May 24/ Fri: AM: Service Project PM: Alajuela City Tour Morning: Get involved in a service project in the city. ​ Afternoon: Alajuela tour and Souvenir Shopping. ​ ​ ​ Breakfast provided by ISL. Lunch & dinner paid by volunteers.

May 25/ Sat: Departure Breakfast provided by ISL.
