Welcome to Our Youth Exchange, Purple Glasses!

We are thrilled to have you involved in this project and hope that you are as excited about it as we are. With people from five different countries, we are going to spend a week exploring various themes of gender inequality and how we can improve the situation. This infopack will guide you through the basics of what we will be doing during this project, what you need to prepare, what you need to bring and how you will get here!

See you soon! The Organizing Team What the Exchange is About

This project is being implemented due to the need to reach a better understanding of the situation of women in the participating countries and the challenges that they face. Gender inequality is a structural problem, and we can do an exercise in reflection both individually and as a group to share our opinions and experiences, which will lead to dialogue, exchange of opinions, debate and possibly, changing people's views.

Main objectives:

Increase the awareness of young people and make them reflect on the roles and status of women and men Develop communication skills, cooperation and teamwork Analyze and discuss the cases of gender inequality existing in different cultures within Europe Creation of concrete tools to fight against gender inequality in our countries of origin Show the importance of language, terminology and the need to acquire critical thinking based on quality information

National Evening

We will have national evenings, when the countries can introduce their food and culture. Please bring some food or snacks and decide one thing that you will teach to other participants. That could be a dance, a song, a tongue twister, a poem or the most difficult word in your language.

We have plenty of space for the activity and we can have it indoors or outdoors. We can use a projector, have music, etc. We have limited access to the kitchen, so if you bring food, choose things that you don’t need much preparation, and more importantly no cooking! Please also try to only include very moderate quantities alcohol (if any) in your presentation, as we are in a school and we might have participants under 18. Transport To Íllora

Most of you will arrive by airplane to either Malaga or Madrid and travel via bus to Granada, then transfer to another local bus to Íllora. You will need to arrive on the 11th before 17:00 to Íllora and you can leave on the 19th in the morning. Please discuss your travel plans with us to make sure everything is correct and let us know if you have any concerns! Below are the transfer details from Granada to Íllora.

Once you are in Granada, transferring to the correct bus to Íllora and arriving to the Youth Exchange should be quite straightforward. Top tip: download the Granada and Íllora offline map in Google Maps so you can navigate even without mobile data. Arriving to the Bus in Granada From the Granada Bus Station: It's very easy to get to the Íllora bus. Just walk out the main entrance of the bus station to the street and to the left of you, you will see the bus stop right next to the taxis. You need to take the bus number 33. You can pay for your bus ticket directly to the driver and it costs 1.40€. Make sure you have change, because they won't give back from big paper notes. Get off at a bus stop called "Avda. Constitución 7 / Triunfo". From there it's a short walk to the other bus. Check the little map below for the route!

From Granada Airport: It is also easy to get to the hostel from the airport. The airport bus is 3€. Make sure you have change, because they won't give back from big paper notes. Take the Granada airport bus (number 245) to Granada and get of at "Constitución 4 / Triunfo". They should announce the stop on the bus. From there it's a short walk to the other bus. Check the little map below for the route! Transfer to Íllora

Once you are off the 33 or the airport bus, it is a short walk to the bus stop to Íllora. That bus stop is called "Rector Marín Ocete". See the map below! There are several bus stops right next to each other, make sure you find the one for number 325. You can pay in cash (3€) to the driver and ride 20 stops to "Íllora 1" and our volunteers will be at the stop to meet you!

If you feel lost or you are unsure about your transport, don't hesitate to contact us! Accommodation & Food

We will stay in a public school in Íllora (see: www.ceipgrancapitan.es), using classrooms as bedrooms. We will provide beds (90cm) and linen. You will share rooms with other participants from different countries (but same gender). Seven or eight people per room. Accommodation is fully covered by the Erasmus+ program. Showers will be in a different building across the street, in a high school gym. The showers are obviously separated by gender, but inside it lacks privacy, as you'd expect in a gym.

Room and board are covered by the program, which means: you will receive food 3 times a day, plus snacks. This is on us but the whole group will collaborate to prepare the dinning room, wash dishes and organize the food. If you have any allergy or any special diet, please let us know in advance in order to try to accommodate that. Please bring reusable water bottles, because hydration is extremely important in the summer heat in Spain, but we don't want to waste plastic.
