To you, O blessed Joseph, 4:30 PM Dolly Lachermeier † do we come in our tribulation, and having implored the help of your most holy Spouse, we confidently invoke your patronage also.

Through that charity which bound you to the Immaculate Mother of God and through the paternal love with which you embraced the Child Jesus, we humbly beg you graciously to regard the inheritance which Jesus Christ has purchased by his Blood, and with your power and strength to aid us in our necessities. O most watchful guardian of the Holy Family, defend the chosen children of Jesus Christ; O most loving father, ward off from us every contagion of error and corrupting influence; O our most mighty protector, be kind to us and from heaven assist us in our struggle with the power of darkness.

As once you rescued the Child Jesus from deadly peril, so now protect God's Holy Church from the snares of the enemy and from all adversity; shield, too, each one of us by your constant protection, so that, supported by your example and your aid, we may be able to live piously, to die in holiness, and to obtain eternal happiness in heaven. . In the Company of Francis ""The lowliest may be pardoned in mercy, but the mighty will be mightily tested...While the power, the glory and the vanity of the world pass away, love remains...Witness is the way to em- body the wisdom of Jesus, not by power and might, but by the Beatitudes...God wants to work wonders precisely through our weaknesses.” —Pope Francis FROM YOUR PASTOR March 17th is 's Day. We normally think of a manifestation of the senses...the parades, the songs, the food, and the bever- ages! Collectively, it places us in a time...perhaps even a place in our life. We think of Saint Patrick in terms of Breastplate, Snakes, and Missionary. But, what about the man behind the caricature? How much was he like You and Me? Perhaps more than you think! Lesser known is his CONFESSIO...or Confession of St Patrick. It was probably written after he was attacked by the people in pow- er...either personally or in ministry. Through it we see his Heroic Virtues of Abandonment, Humility, Courage...and most of all Holiness. Consider his words... >I, Patrick, a sinner, most rustic, the least of all the faithful, and utterly despised by many. >I was then about sixteen years of age. I did not know the true God. I was taken into captivity to Ireland with many thousands of people. >And there the Lord opened the sense of my unbelief that I might at last remember my sins and be converted with all my heart to the Lord my God, who had regard for my abjection, and mercy on my youth and ignorance, and watched over me before I knew Him, and before I was able to distinguish between good and evil, and guarded me, and comforted me as would a father his son. >Hence, I cannot be silent—nor, indeed, is it expedient—about the great benefits and the great grace which the lord has deigned to be- stow upon me in the land of my captivity; for this we can give to God in return after having been chastened by Him, to exalt and praise His wonders before every nation that is anywhere under the heaven. >Although I am imperfect in many things, I nevertheless wish that my brethren and kinsmen should know what sort of person I am, so that they may understand my heart's desire. >I give unwearied thanks to God, who kept me faithful in the day of my temptation, so that today I can confidently offer Him my soul as a living sacrifice—to Christ my Lord, who saved me out of all my troubles. >I must accept with equanimity whatever befalls me, be it good or evil, and always give thanks to God, who taught me to trust in Him always without hesitation, and who must have heard my prayer so that I, however ignorant I was, in the last days dared to undertake such a holy and wonderful work—thus imitating somehow those who, as the Lord once foretold, would preach His Gospel for a testimony to all nations before the end of the world. >So, now I commend my soul to my faithful God, for whom I am an ambassador in all my wretchedness; but God accepts no person, and chose me for this office—to be, although among His least, one of His ministers. >May He search the hearts and deepest feelings; for greatly and exceedingly do I wish, and ready I was, that He should give me His chalice to drink, as He gave it also to the others who loved Him. >I pray to God to give me perseverance and to deign that I be a faithful witness to Him to the end of my life for my God. >For this sun which we see rises daily for us because He commands so, but it will never reign, nor will its splendor last; what is more, those wretches who adore it will be miserably punished. Not so we, who believe in, and worship, the true sun—Christ—who will never perish, nor will he who does His will; but he will abide forever as Christ abides forever, who reigns with God the Father Al- mighty and the Holy Spirit before time, and now, and in all eternity. Amen. >This is my confession before I die. Use this Lent to discern... What is your Mission? What are your Virtues? What is your CONFESSIO? +May God Bless You and Keep You+ Very Reverend Ronald W. Cattany

Fourth Sunday of Lent Do you remember the exhilaration of getting your first pair of Keds, say, when you were five? I could absolutely jump higher and run faster than ANYBODY, just watch me! watch me! watch me! My parents, ever indulgent, oohed and aahed at the ecstasies of all of their kids. And, in those early years, I thought their love and admiration for me was directly tied to how blindingly fast I was, and how shockingly high I could jump. It wasn’t until my baby brother aged into the new Keds experience, and they clapped and praised his athletic genius too, that it hit me. Oh. Our parents don’t love us for what we accomplish. They egg us on into believing we are super-human in all our endeavors be- cause they know that makes us happy. They love us because they love us, not because we are great at anything we do, because, well, we really aren’t. What a grace it is to read John 3:17: For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that through Him the world might be saved. What a get-out-of-jail passage that is. God didn’t love us unto death because of anything, anything, that we did. The word “grace” means “undeserved kindness.” It’s like when the judge orders a stay of execution for the (guilty) guy on death row. We are saved because of the undeserved kindness of God. Now we are free to run as fast as we can to the finish line, life on high in Christ Jesus (Phil. 3:14). And, in our joy, we jump as high as we can to feed, and clothe, and bring justice to God’s earth. What good works that you perform make you the most conscious of the undeserved kindness of God? She was intelligent, self-effacing, and had physical strength and endurance that belied her continuing feeble health. The missions he sent her on eventually led to four simple young women joining her. Her rented home in Paris became the training center for those accepted for the service of the sick and poor. It was not until years later that Vincent de Paul would finally permit four of the women to take annual vows of poverty, chasti- ty and obedience. It was still more years before the company would be formally approved by Rome and placed under the direction of Vincent’s own congregation of priests.

Many of the young women were illiterate. Still it was with reluctance that the new community undertook the care of neglected children. Louise was busy helping wherever needed despite her poor health. She traveled throughout France, establishing her community members in hospitals, orphanages and other institutions. At her death on March 15, 1660, the congregation had more than 40 houses in France.
