Access rules

From June 1, 2020, the access to the Colosseum will be exclusively from the so-called "Sperone Valadier" and can be used by individuals or groups of up to 14 people, properly spaced, that will enter every 15 minutes and always accompanied along the entire route.

We inform you that for security reasons, from June 1, 2020 it will not be possible to admit more than 600 people per day.

For security reasons all visitors must be checked.

To facilitate security controls, you are asked to put any object (including mobile phones) in your backpack or in the special tray that will go through the X-ray machine.

It is forbidden to introduce bottles, glass containers, alcoholic drinks and spray cans, camping backpacks, bulky bags and suitcases / trolley, while it is possible to introduce small and medium shoulder bags, which must be control with the metal detector, like any other bag. The bags will be opened and visually inspected by the Urbe Security Institute, responsible for the inspection at the entrance.

COLOSSEUM: entrance only from the "Sperone Valadier"

2 visit routes:

1. “Il Colosseo si racconta” provides access to the first order from the basements, the ascent to the second order, the visit of the permanent exhibition, the view from the Valadier terrace on the Colosseum square (estimated time 45 minutes). Accessibility will always be ensured with assistance to fragile public and the use of elevators with systematic sanitation interventions.

2.“Colosseum-Arena” it winds along the first order, always in the sign of full accessibility, up to the Libitinaria gate and from here with an emotional access on the arena floor (estimated time 40 minutes).

Roman Forum and Palatine Hill: entrance along via dei Fori Imperiali, in Largo della Salara / Largo Corrado Ricci.

From here, without having to book a specific time, people can follow 4 different routes:

1. "The Roman Forum square" with exit from via del Foro Romano (estimated time 30') 2. "Walking along Via Sacra" with exit from the Arch of Titus (estimated time 1 hour and 30')

3. "From the Roman Forum to the imperial palaces" with exit from via di S. Gregorio (estimated time 2 hours).

4. "Towards the origins of Rome", route along the southern slopes of the Palatine, with exit from via di S. Gregorio (estimated time 2 hours and 30')

From June 1, 2020, the access to the Colosseum will be exclusively from the so-called "Valadier Entrance". It is possible to enter up to 14 people every 15 minutes. People will always be accompanied.
