RAMOS-VINOLAS LOOKS FOR SECOND ATP TITLE, KHACHANOV FIRST

FINAL PREVIEW: The Chengdu Open championship Sunday features No. 5 seed Albert Ramos-Vinolas, and unseeded #NextGen star , who is appearing in his first ATP World Tour final. This is the third meeting between the Spaniard and Russian (tied 1-1). Both previous meetings went to a decisive third set with Khachanov winning the first contest in the 1R of 2013 Moscow. In April, Ramos-Vinolas rallied from a set down in the 2R of Istanbul.

Ramos-Vinolas is appearing in his first career ATP World Tour final on hard courts and third final overall (1-1). Prior to this year, he was runner-up in 2012 Casablanca (l. to Andujar). The 28-year-old Spaniard captured his first ATP World Tour title in Bastad (d. Verdasco) in July. He is one of seven different Spanish winners this year. En route to the final, he posted his third career Top 10 win over No. 10/ top seed in the quarter- finals on Friday. In the semi-finals, he beat No. 3 seed in a third set tie-break.

Khachanov is the first Russian to reach an ATP World Tour final since won Valencia in Oct. 2013. En route to his maiden ATP World Tour final, has posted wins over No. 7 seed Joao Sousa in 1R, No. 4 Feliciano Lopez in QF and No. 6 in SF. The 20-year-old Moscow native is trying to become ninth first-time ATP World Tour winner this season and third #NextGen winner (behind and ). The big Russian has held serve 40 of 43 games (93%) en route to the final, saving six of nine break points.
