World No. 20 Kevin Anderson heads the 48-man draw, which includes 2015 champion Denis Istomin and runner-up Sam Querrey. Four players who’ve reached the quarter-finals or better at Wimbledon are also in action: No. 9 seed Marcos Baghdatis, No. 11 seed Vasek Pospisil, No. 14 seed Fernando Verdasco and Mikhail Youzhny. The two-time champion began his title defense with a win over qualifier Lukas Lacko on Monday, the same day that he became the second World No. 1 from France in doubles or singles.
