The No. 2 seed is 3-0 in matches (8-0 in sets, 48-20 in games) against Roberto Bautista Agut going into their match at 7 pm on Center Court. Also on the schedule are second-round matches featuring No. 6 seed Tomas Berdych and US Open champion No. 7 seed Marin Cilic. Still seeking a place in the second-round are No. 9 seed Milos Raonic, No. 15 seed Kevin Anderson, and former Top 10 players Jo-Wilfried Tsonga and Fernando Verdasco, who meet each other in the second match on Stadium 3. Federer has captured six of the last 10 Cincinnati titles after winning just one match in his first four appearances at the Lindner Family Tennis Center. Federer, who turned 34 on Aug. 8, is the oldest player to rank in the Top 3 of the Emirates ATP Rankings since Andre Agassi (33) was No. 1 on Sept. 1, 2003. Federer is playing in his first tournament since reaching the Wimbledon final (l. to Djokovic) on July 12. This season, he has compiled a 40-7 match record (16-2 on hard). The Swiss has won four titles (Brisbane, Dubai, Istanbul, Halle), while reaching three other finals (Indian Wells, Rome, Wimbledon). Federer has 86 career titles and he’s won six or more titles at six different events. The 18-year-olds played once in singles on the ITF Junior Circuit, with Coric defeating Zverev 6-4, 3-6, 6-0 in the 2013 US Open semifinals. Coric went on to win the US Open title in the final tournament of his junior career, but he finished 2013 ranked No. 2 in the junior rankings behind Zverev. Now 38th and 85th respectively in the Emirates ATP Rankings, Coric (2014 Basel, 2015 Dubai) and Zverev (2014 Hamburg, 2015 Bastad) have each reached two ATP World Tour semi-finals. Coric is seeking his first win of the North American summer hard court circuit, while Zverev was a quarter-finalist in Washington and qualified for the Cincinnati main draw by beating No. 7 seed Benjamin Becker 6-4, 6-2 and No. 10 seed Denis Istomin 6-2, 3-6, 6-3. Western & Southern Open Day 3 – Tuesday, August 18, 2015 Page 3 of 13 www.ATPWorldTour.com GASQUET vs. KYRGIOS… AGAIN: Nick Kyrgios has not been on the ATP World Tour for long, but he’s certainly seen his fair share of Richard Gasquet across the net. In fact, the 20-year-old Aussie has faced the 12th-seeded Gasquet more than any other player in the Top 100 of the Emirates ATP Rankings. Kyrgios and Gasquet are playing today for the fifth time in just over 18 months. Gasquet leads their FedEx Head 2 Head 3-1, avenging the loss of nine match points at Wimbledon in 2014 by beating Kyrgios en route to the Wimbledon semi-finals last month. The French veteran also denied Kyrgios his first ATP World Tour title in the Estoril final in May and defeated him during a first-round Davis Cup tie in 2014. ISNER, QUERREY MEET ON HOME SOIL: Good friends and frequent doubles partners John Isner and Sam Querrey will play one another for the fifth time on the ATP World Tour today. Querrey leads his FedEx Head 2 Head 3-1 against the 11th-seeded Isner, most recently upsetting his fellow American 7-6(3), 7-6(2) in the 2015 Memphis quarter-finals. However, the 2013 Cincinnati finalist Isner has been the better player this summer, posting an 11-2 record across the North American hard courts of Atlanta (W), Washington (F) and Montréal (QF). Querrey is 2-2 over the same stretch. Isner and Querrey have been partners far more often than they’ve been opponents, teaming for at least two doubles tournaments each season since 2008. The Americans are 53-39 lifetime, winning the ATP Masters 1000 title at Rome in 2011 and an ATP World Tour 500 title at Memphis in 2010. ISNER SUMMER SUCCESS: Isner, who reached the Cincinnati final two years ago (l. to Nadal), has won 11 of 13 matches on the ATP World Tour North American summer hard court circuit. It’s the fifth time in the last seven years that Isner has won at least 10 matches leading into the US Open. He has also won an ATP World Tour title each of the last five summers.
