SIX-TIME CHAMPION FEDERER, CORIC vs. ZVEREV HIGHLIGHT DAY 3

 FEDERER KICKS OFF SECOND-ROUND ACTION: Six second-round and eight first-round singles matches make up Tuesday’s order of play in Cincinnati, highlighted by six-time tournament champion . The No. 2 seed is 3-0 in matches (8-0 in sets, 48-20 in games) against going into their match at 7 pm on Center Court. Also on the schedule are second-round matches featuring No. 6 seed Tomas Berdych and US Open champion No. 7 seed Marin Cilic. Still seeking a place in the second-round are No. 9 seed , No. 15 seed , and former Top 10 players Jo-Wilfried Tsonga and , who meet each other in the second match on Stadium 3. th  ROGER LOOKS FOR SEVEN: Federer is making his 15 appearance, second-most in tournament history (Chang-16). Federer has won 37 of 45 career matches and is perfect in finals with a tournament-record 6-0 mark (2005, ’07, ’09-10, ’12, ’14). Federer, who turned 34 on Aug. 8, is the oldest player to rank in the Top 3 of the Emirates ATP Rankings since (33) was No. 1 on Sept. 1, 2003. Federer is playing in his first tournament since reaching the Wimbledon final (l. to Djokovic) on July 12. This season, he has compiled a 40-7 match record (16-2 on hard).  THE FUTURE IS NOW: Borna Coric and , the youngest players in the Top 100 Emirates ATP Rankings will meet for the first time on the ATP World Tour. The 18-year-olds played once in singles on the ITF Junior Circuit, with Coric defeating Zverev 6-4, 3-6, 6-0 in the 2013 US Open semifinals. Coric went on to win the US Open title in the final tournament of his junior career, but he finished 2013 ranked No. 2 in the junior rankings behind Zverev. Now 38th and 85th respectively in the Emirates ATP Rankings, Coric (2014 Basel, 2015 Dubai) and Zverev (2014 , 2015 Bastad) have each reached two ATP World Tour semi-finals. Coric is seeking his first win of the North American summer hard court circuit, while Zverev was a quarter-finalist in Washington and qualified for the Cincinnati main draw by beating No. 7 seed 6-4, 6-2 and No. 10 seed 6-2, 3-6, 6-3.

 TEENAGE MATCH WINS LEADERS: Coric (19) and Zverev (13) have the most match wins among teenagers on the ATP World Tour this year. , who won his first-round match in Cincinnati on Monday, is third with 11 victories.  TEENAGERS IN CINCINNATI: Coric and Zverev are two of four teenagers in the singles main draw. The others are: American Jared Donaldson (18), who led his rain-suspended 1R match 4-1 in the third set against , and Aussie Thanasi Kokkinakis (19), who won his first- round match on Monday night over . The last time four teens played in Cincinnati was in 2006 with (19 years 2 months), (19 years 2 months), Gael Monfils (19 years 11 months), and (18 years 10 months).  GASQUET vs. KYRGIOS… AGAIN: Nick Kyrgios has not been on the ATP World Tour for long, but he’s certainly seen his fair share of across the net. In fact, the 20-year-old Aussie has faced the 12th-seeded Gasquet more than any other player in the Top 100 of the Emirates ATP Rankings. Kyrgios and Gasquet are playing today for the fifth time in just over 18 months. Gasquet leads their FedEx 2 Head 3-1, avenging the loss of nine match points at Wimbledon in 2014 by beating Kyrgios en route to the Wimbledon semi-finals last month. The French veteran also denied Kyrgios his first ATP World Tour title in the Estoril final in May and defeated him during a first-round tie in 2014.

 ISNER, QUERREY MEET ON HOME SOIL: Good friends and frequent doubles partners and Sam Querrey will play one another for the fifth time on the ATP World Tour today. Querrey leads his FedEx Head 2 Head 3-1 against the 11th-seeded Isner, most recently upsetting his fellow American 7-6(3), 7-6(2) in the 2015 Memphis quarter-finals. However, the 2013 Cincinnati finalist Isner has been the better player this summer, posting an 11-2 record across the North American hard courts of (W), Washington (F) and Montréal (QF). Querrey is 2-2 over the same stretch. Isner and Querrey have been partners far more often than they’ve been opponents, teaming for at least two doubles tournaments each season since 2008. The Americans are 53-39 lifetime, winning the ATP Masters 1000 title at Rome in 2011 and an ATP World Tour 500 title at Memphis in 2010.

 ISNER SUMMER SUCCESS: Isner, who reached the Cincinnati final two years ago (l. to Nadal), has won 11 of 13 matches on the ATP World Tour North American summer hard court circuit. It’s the fifth time in the last seven years that Isner has won at least 10 matches leading into the US Open. He has also won an ATP World Tour title each of the last five summers.  Isner is playing his eighth Western & Southern Open (10-7). The American No. 1 reached the final in 2013 (l. to Nadal) and the 3R in 2014 (l. to Murray).  Isner has won 11 of his 13 matches since start of summer hard court circuit (won Atlanta, d. Baghdatis; Finalist in Washington, l. to Nishikori; QF in Montreal, l. to Chardy after holding 7 MPs).  Isner has reached two ATP World Tour Masters 1000 finals (Indian Wells 2012, l. to Federer; Cincinnati 2013, l. to Nadal) and four SFs (including Toronto 2012, l. to Gasquet).  This is the fourth meeting between Bautista Agut and Federer in the past 12 months. Federer is yet to drop a set against the Spaniard (2014 U.S. Open 4R, Shanghai 3R, 2015 Wimbledon 4R).  Bautista Agut is back at the Western & Southern Open after reaching the 2R on his debut in 2014 (l. to Monfils). He beat 6-3 6-4 on Monday night to reach 2R.  After reaching the 4R at Wimbledon (l. to Federer), Spaniard advanced to his fourth SF of 2015 in Umag (l. to Sousa) before consecutive 2R losses in Hamburg (l. to Bedene) and Montreal (l. to Tsonga).  Bautista Agut earlier this season reached SFs in Chennai (l to Bedene), Marseille (l. to Monfils) and Munich (l. to Murray).  Bautista Agut is looking for his first Top 10 win of the season (0-5) and trying to break a 12-match losing streak since beating No. 5 Berdych in 2R at ATP Masters 1000 Indian Wells in March 2014. His other wins came over No. 6 Berdych in ’13 Chennai and No. 5 del Potro in ’14  Bautista Agut finished 2014 at a year-end best No. 15, rising from No. 59 at the start of the season, and was named ATP Most Improved Player of the Year. No. 6 Tomas Berdych turns 30 next month  Federer arrives with a 40-7 match record this season and four ATP World Tour titles – Brisbane (d. Raonic), Dubai (d. Djokovic), Istanbul (d. Cuevas) and Halle (d. Seppi). Also finalist at ATP Masters 1000 tournaments in Indian Wells and Rome as well as Wimbledon, his last tournament prior to Cincinnati (l. to Djokovic in all three).  Federer won his 1,000th career match in Brisbane (final, d. Raonic), becoming third player in Open Era to accomplish feat (Connors 1,254, Lendl 1,071). He now has 1,036 career match wins.  Federer finished 2014 in the Top 2 for 10th time in his career and claimed five titles, including two ATP Masters 1000 crowns (Cincinnati, Shanghai).  Both Coric and Zverev are making their Western & Southern Open debuts. Coric made his ATP World Tour Masters 1000 debut in Indian Wells 2015 (l. 2R to Tomic), while Zverev debuted in Miami (as qualifier, l. 2R to Rosol).  Coric has reached two SFs in 2015, in Dubai (QF d. Murray, SF l. to Federer) and Nice (l. to L Mayer). Last week he lost to Jo-Wilfried Tsonga in the 1R in Montreal.  Coric, aged 18y 8m, is the highest-ranked of four teenagers in the Emirates ATP Rankings Top 100 (No. 38), ahead of Hyeon Chung (19y 2m, No. 73), Thanasi Kokkinakis (19y 4m, No. 79) and Zverev (18y 3m, No. 85).  Coric finished the 2014 season as the youngest player (18) and one of two teenagers (w/Kyrgios) in Top 100 after rising 276 places to No. 91 during the year.  Zverev, the youngest player in the singles draw and the Emirates ATP Rankings Top 100, reached his first Western & Southern Open as a qualifier.  Cilic reached the QF in Cincinnati in 2012 (l. to Djokovic), his best result. Last year reached 3R in (l. to Wawrinka). This is his seventh Western & Southern Open appearance (6-6).  After reaching the QF at Wimbledon (l. to champion Djokovic) and SF in Washington (l. to champion Nishikori), No. 1 Croat lost his first match in Montreal (1R bye, 2R l. to Tomic).  Cilic, the defending U.S. Open champion, also reached the SF in Stuttgart in June (l. to Troicki) and QFs in Monte-Carlo (l. to Djokovic) in April and Geneva (l. to Giraldo) in May. He returned to his career-high ranking of No. 8 earlier this month (first reached Oct. 13, 2014). This week is No. 9.  Cilic returned from a right shoulder injury in March in Indian Wells (l. to in 2R after bye). In next tournament in Monte-Carlo, advanced to QFs  Cilic has an 0-4 record against Top 10 opposition in 2015 (19-54 career).  Cilic finished 2014 at a year-end best No. 9 and won more than 50 matches for the first time (54), capturing a personal-high four titles, including a first Grand Slam crown at the U.S. Open (d. Nishikori; also , Delray Beach, Moscow). Qualified for first Barclays ATP World Tour Finals in London (0-3 in round robin).  Sousa is making his second Western & Southern Open appearance after exiting in the 2R on his debut in 2014 (l. to Murray). On Monday, reached 2R by beating Kohlschreiber 6-2 6-7(5) 6-2.  Sousa reached the fourth and fifth ATP World Tour finals of his career earlier this season, in Geneva (l. to Bellucci) in May and Umag (l. to Thiem) last month. His lone ATP World Tour title came in his first final appearance ( in 2013, d. Benneteau).  Sousa has an 0-6 record against Top 10 opposition in 2015.
